• Conduct thorough mental health evaluations and create individualized treatment plans based on the unique needs of each client.
• Facilitate both individual and group therapy sessions that align with therapeutic goals, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for participants.
• Regularly assess and document client progress, adjusting intervention strategies as needed to enhance therapeutic outcomes.
• Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team that includes psychiatrists, primary care physicians, and social workers, ensuring a comprehensive approach to each client's care.
• Provide education and support to family members and primary caregivers to help them navigate their loved ones' mental health challenges.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practices in mental health counseling and psychotherapy, actively contributing to team discussions and shared learning.
• Manage referrals effectively, providing clients with access to other services they may need for holistic recovery and support.
• Adhere to all ethical and legal standards in practice, maintaining confidentiality and respecting client rights at all times.

• Completion of the NCE or NCMHCE with a passing score.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ensuring effective dialogue with clients and team members.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and an empathetic disposition, essential for building rapport with clients and their families.

• Previous experience in a mental health counseling role is strongly preferred, ideally in a community health or clinical setting.
• Familiarity with electronic health record systems, specifically AVATAR, is advantageous for maintaining accurate client documentation.
• Experience in dealing with various mental health conditions, including addictions and co-occurring disorders is highly valued.
• Knowledge of the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA) best practices to inform clinical skills and approaches.
• Understanding of the effects of medications commonly prescribed for mental health disorders will contribute significantly to your effectiveness in this role.
