A Remote Commercial Insurance job involves working from a location outside of a traditional office to provide insurance solutions for businesses. People in these roles help companies assess risks, select appropriate insurance policies, and manage claims, all through digital communication and online platforms. Responsibilities can include sales, underwriting, customer service, or claims adjustment, depending on the specific position. Working remotely allows for flexibility and can involve collaborating with clients and teams across various locations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote commercial insurance specialist?

To thrive as a Remote Commercial Insurance Specialist, you need a solid understanding of insurance products, underwriting principles, risk assessment, and typically a state insurance license. Familiarity with insurance management software, CRM systems, and quoting platforms is important for efficient client and policy management. Job Description

About the Role

Location: Fully remote within the continental United States.

Joinย Nearmap'sย GTM Finance team as the Analyst who helps keep commission plansย accurate, forecasts sharp, and cross-functional partners aligned.ย You'llย sit at theย centerย ofย Nearmap'sย global go-to-market business - building operational budgets, running forecasts, and giving GTM leaders the financial read they need to make real decisions. Thisย isn'tย a back-office reporting seat.ย You'llย supportย planning discussions, and your numbers will shape what GTM departmentsย actually doย next.ย

Commission work is a core part of the role.ย You'llย help driveย commissionย plan design, own the calculations, and make sure the audit trail holds up - which means working closely with GTM, Sales Operations, Global FP&A, Accounting, Payroll, Legal, and HR. Six different teams, one number that has to be right every time.ย That'sย the job.ย

We're looking for someone with 2-4 years of experience as a Financial Analyst who already knows their way around KPI reporting, forecasting, and financialย modelingย - someone who builds relationships with stakeholders because they want the full picture, not because it's a line on a performance review. Ifย you'reย a self-starterย who'dย rather flag a problem in commission calculations before it becomes an audit finding, this role is built for you.ย

Key Responsibilities

Financial Planning and Analysis

  • Budgeting and forecasting for the Global GTM business, including preparation and presentation of resultsย
  • Create, implement, andย maintainย a robust expense forecasting process to allow real-time visibility of GTM spendingย ย ย
  • Support the Commercial Finance Manager and the Director of GTM Finance in the strategic decision-making processย
  • Ensure costs incurred by the business are in line with budget expectations,ย escalating material variances to the Commercial Finance Managerย in a timely mannerย
  • Prepare monthly variance analysis reports for key stakeholdersย
  • Assistย in forecasting and budgeting sales commissions, ensuring they align with overall businessย objectivesย and growth targetsย
  • Support the Accounting team inย timelyย andย accurateย preparation of monthlyย GTM spendย accruals and reconciliations for commissions accountingย
  • Monitor and provide management reporting and analysis on the competitive landscapeย ย ย
  • Ad Hoc projects and requests, as neededย

Commission Management

  • Manage the commission accrual and payment process for quota carrying resources acrossย Nearmapย
  • Prepare andย maintainย commission reports and analysis, ensuring they align with company goals and compensation plansย
  • Report andย analyzeย quota attainment metricsย
  • Identifyย and track key operational metrics to measure leading indicators of performanceย
  • In partnership withย the Global HR Team,ย supportย the end-to-end Sales Incentive Plan (SIP) letterย process, including drafting,ย distributingย andย maintainingย accurateย records to ensure all quota-carrying resources receiveย timelyย and compliant compensation agreementsย ย
  • Continuous improvement and optimization of GTM operational processesย

Compliance

  • Keep up to date andย comply withย all local legislative requirements.ย
  • Adhere to company guidelines and the corporate Code of Conductย
  • Act in an ethical way when dealing with company assets and other people.ย
Qualifications

Experience

  • 2-4 years of experience in FP&A or Commercial Finance. SaaS or subscription business experience preferredย
  • BS/BA in accounting, finance, economics, or other quantitative fields preferredย
  • Experience as aย commissionsย administrator preferred, but not compulsoryย

Skills

  • Strong interpersonal relationship skillsย ย
