Remote Coatings information

What are Remote Coatings?

Remote coatings refer to protective or functional layers applied to surfaces in locations that are difficult to access, such as the inside of pipelines, underwater structures, or hazardous environments. These coatings are often applied using specialized equipment that can be operated remotely, ensuring safety and efficiency. The purpose is to prevent corrosion, improve durability, or add specific properties to the substrate without requiring direct human presence. This technology is widely used in industries like oil and gas, marine, and infrastructure maintenance.

What are some common challenges faced by Remote Coatings Specialists, and how can they be addressed?

Remote Coatings Specialists often encounter challenges such as ensuring proper application quality without on-site supervision, managing time zone differences with clients or team members, and handling technical issues remotely. Successful specialists typically leverage digital communication tools, maintain detailed documentation, and use remote monitoring technologies to oversee projects effectively. Regular virtual check-ins with clients and teammates can also help address issues promptly and ensure project alignment.

What is the difference between Remote Coatings vs Coatings Technician?

AspectRemote CoatingsCoatings Technician
CertificationsTypically requires certifications in coatings application and safetyRequires similar certifications, often including OSHA safety training
Work EnvironmentPrimarily remote, involving planning, design, and consultationOn-site application and inspection of coatings
Industry UsageUsed across manufacturing, construction, and industrial sectorsCommonly employed in construction, manufacturing, and maintenance

Remote Coatings professionals focus on planning, consulting, and overseeing coating projects remotely, while Coatings Technicians are hands-on workers applying coatings on-site. Both roles require similar certifications but differ mainly in work environment and daily tasks.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Coatings Technician, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Coatings Technician, you need a solid background in surface preparation, application techniques, and coatings specifications, often supported by relevant certifications such as NACE or SSPC. Familiarity with remote application equipment, inspection tools, and digital reporting systems is essential. Attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and effective communication are vital soft skills for ensuring high-quality work and coordinating with off-site teams. These skills and qualifications are important to ensure compliance with industry standards, safety, and the long-term performance of protective coatings applied remotely.

Job description

About the Role
That 1 Detailer is scaling nationwide, and we're building a sales team unlike any other in the industry - one made up entirely of real car people.
This isn't a seat for a generalist closer looking to jump into the next vertical. We're hiring lifelong automotive professionals who've spent a decade or more in the trade - detailers, paint specialists, shop managers, styling experts - and who now want to translate that hard-won expertise into a high-earning sales role.
If you've run a bay, managed techs, walked customers through paint correction, and can speak fluently about ceramic coatings, prep work, and surface defects - and you've got the sales instincts to build genuine rapport and close - this is your seat.
What You'll Do
Close Warm Inbound Leads

  • Handle 10+ warm inbound leads daily - every customer has requested a quote directly from us
  • Respond within 5 minutes (speed-to-lead = your income)
  • Lead consultative conversations: diagnose the customer's situation, educate them on the product, build a real connection, then close
  • Make a friend first, close second - but always close
  • Own your pipeline inside GoHighLevel: tasks, notes, follow-ups, deal management
  • Bring a continuous-improvement mindset to your craft

Pipeline & Follow-Up Management
  • Execute structured, multi-touch follow-ups to convert undecided leads
  • Maintain clean, organized CRM hygiene
  • Stay highly active: calls, texts, emails - whatever moves the deal
  • Drive the pipeline daily with urgency and discipline
    Core Requirements
  • 10+ years in the automotive industry. Non-negotiable. We're hiring real car people - applications without deep industry tenure won't move forward.
  • 5+ years of phone sales or telemarketing experience. You've closed over the phone, handled live objections, and can carry a conversation toward a yes without leaning on a script.
  • Fluency in automotive paint and protection. You can speak credibly and in detail about paint correction, clear coats, ceramic coatings, PPF, and detailing workflows - to customers and technicians alike.
  • Genuine passion for cars. This shows up in how you talk about the work and the craft. Customers can tell the difference inside 30 seconds, and so can we.
  • A real commitment to customer experience. You treat customers like people, not transactions. You believe a great close starts with a great conversation.
  • Home office setup, fast and disciplined work habits, high personal accountability - you operate without micromanagement.

Strongly Preferred
  • Past ownership or management of a detail shop, auto styling studio, or comparable business. You've run the floor, talked directly to customers, dealt with vendors, and know what it takes to deliver high-end work.
  • Hands-on certifications from major ceramic coating, PPF, or paint correction brands.
  • Remote sales experience or a proven home-office track record.

Bonus Points
  • Familiarity with GoHighLevel or a comparable CRM
  • Existing network in the automotive aftermarket / detailing community

Compensation
  • Commission-only (1099)
  • OTE: $125,000+ based on performance
  • Uncapped - top performers earn significantly more

Important Note (Read Before Applying)
This role isn't for career closers chasing the next hot vertical, and it isn't for sales reps who left the bay years ago and lost touch with the work. It's for automotive professionals who've put in the years, know the craft cold, and are ready to channel that expertise into a sales seat where their knowledge is the competitive edge.
We move quickly, operate with high standards, and expect discipline and accountability. Your income is a direct result of your speed, consistency, and follow-through.
If you prefer a slower environment or need constant hand-holding, this won't be the right fit.
Ready to Join a High-Performance Sales Team?
Apply now to join a team built for speed, scale, and top-tier performance - and become a key part of transforming the automotive detailing industry nationwide.
