Job description

Overview

Atlas Fibre is hiring a CNC Programmer with Mastercam experience to support our growing machining operation in Northbrook, IL. We specialize in composite laminates and high-performance plastic components, producing complex, high-precision parts across a variety of industries.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll program from CAD models, support production, and work closely with machinists and engineers to improve processes, quality, and efficiency.

What You’ll Do

  • Program CNC mills using Mastercam for complex plastic and composite parts
  • Develop and optimize toolpaths, setups, and machining strategies
  • Work from CAD models, drawings, and technical specifications
  • Apply GD&T principles to ensure accuracy and tight tolerances
  • Collaborate with machinists and engineers to troubleshoot and improve processes
  • Create and maintain setup sheets and work instructions
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across programming and production
  • Assist with in-process troubleshooting and cycle time optimization

What We’re Looking For

Required:

  • 5+ years of CNC programming experience (or equivalent hands-on experience)
  • Strong experience with Mastercam or similar CAM software
  • Ability to program from scratch using CAD models
  • Solid understanding of machining processes and tooling
  • Working knowledge of GD&T
  • Comfortable working in a hands-on shop environment

Preferred (Not Required):

  • Experience machining plastics or composite materials
  • Familiarity with Vericut or similar simulation software
  • Experience with Renishaw probing or machine calibration
  • Exposure to macro programming / NC code optimization
  • Experience with multi-axis machining (4/5-axis)
