Job description

Position Summary: Punch Press Operator:
The Punch Press Operator is responsible for the setup, operation, and troubleshooting of CNC Punch Press and Turret Punch Press machines used in the fabrication of sheet metal components. The ideal candidate will have experience reading blueprints, setting tooling, verifying dimensions, and producing quality parts in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position plays a critical role in ensuring production efficiency, quality standards, and workplace safety.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Punch Press Operator:
  • Set up, operate, and monitor CNC punch press and turret punch press equipment.
  • Load programs, verify machine settings, and make minor programming adjustments as required.
  • Install, align, and maintain tooling, dies, and punches.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, engineering drawings, and production schedules.
  • Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections to ensure products meet specifications.
  • Utilize precision measuring equipment, including calipers, micrometers, tape measures, and gauges.
  • Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to maintain part quality and production efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot machine, tooling, and production issues to minimize downtime.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance and maintain equipment in good working order.
  • Identify and report quality concerns, equipment malfunctions, or safety hazards.
  • Accurately complete production, quality, and maintenance documentation.
  • Assist in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and quality standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Required Qualifications: Punch Press Operator:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience operating CNC punch press or turret punch press equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Experience with tooling setup, punch selection, and machine adjustments.
  • Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes.
  • Proficiency using precision measuring instruments.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications: Punch Press Operator:
  • Experience with Amada, Trumpf, Murata, Finn-Power, or similar CNC turret punch press equipment.
  • Knowledge of CNC programming and G-Code fundamentals.
  • Forklift certification.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to perform basic machine maintenance and repairs.
