The Vice President of Sales is a senior role in our National Accounts business accountable for driving new business growth within an assigned region. This role is responsible for developing a regional sales strategy and plan which will promote sales growth and productive consultant and customer relationships.
If you are located in Texas or MO, you will have the flexibility to work remotely* as you take on some tough challenges.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Achieve new business sales membership goals on an annual basis
  • Define a sales plan and approach that delivers desired sales outcomes; identify improvements and adjust plan when needed
  • Demonstrate solid leadership qualities and organizational skills in leading the efforts of the team throughout the sales cycle
  • Foster consultant relationships in your region that lead to productive and effective working relationships
  • Successfully implement a prospecting strategy for assigned region to ensure the organization fosters productive relationships with targeted employers
  • Drive innovation across National Accounts to support real-time strategy refinement utilizing lessons learned and best practices to drive continuous improvement
  • Anticipate industry trends and assess competitor positioning to proactively position the company for long term success that translates to revenue growth and the development of new enterprise strategic relationships for UnitedHealth Group
  • Represent the company both externally and internally as an industry expert and thought leader with existing and prospective customers, brokers, consultants and government agencies
  • Maintain a highly credible and visible professional profile within the industry including representing the organization in meetings, seminars, trade shows and networking events
  • Be a positive force and a team leader; communicate issues, concerns and problems in a solution-oriented manner
  • Ensure accurate and timely entry of sales opportunity information using our sales tracking tools as well as timely management reporting
  • Partner collaboratively with our existing client management teams and national/regional resources to maximize results
  • Possess solid financial acumen

Required Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of successful sales and/or sales management experience in the large employer market for Health Insurance
  • Consulting experience working with large complex customers is considered a plus but is not required
  • Verifiable successful consultative sales experience calling on prospective employer customers at the CEO, COO, CFO, CMO level executives
  • Familiarity with all aspects of healthcare sales and marketing along with a solid understanding of the impact of sales activities on UnitedHealth Group's operations and profitability
  • Proven solid strategic focus and orientation in addressing and solving complex issues
  • Proven established, existing relationships with leaders in the consulting industry in the region and key employer executives
  • Proven clearly demonstrated strengths in persuasion, oral/written communications, analytical skills and sales production
  • Proven advanced consultative selling skills - individual should be adept at fostering relationships where they may not have previously existed
  • Demonstrated ability to assess problems and implement solutions based on sound marketing, operational and financial principles
  • Demonstrated ability to develop creative solutions to address a wide variety of unique market problems and opportunities

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $130,000 to $240,000 annually based on full-time employment. This role is also eligible to receive bonuses based on sales performance. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
