WORK SCHEDULE
  • 100% FTE - 40 hours per week
  • Day Shift - UW MEDICINE ITS SERVICES CORE HOURS ARE 08:00 - 17:00 (PST), Monday-Friday

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
UW Medicine IT Services (ITS) is a shared services organization that supports all of UW Medicine. UW Medicine is comprised of Harborview Medical Center (HMC), UW Medical Center-Montlake Campus (UWMC-Montlake), UW Medical Center-Northwest Campus (UWMC-NW), UW Medicine Primary Care (UWMPC), UW Physicians (UWP), UW School of Medicine (SOM), and Airlift Northwest (ALNW). ITS is responsible for the ongoing support and maintenance of the infrastructure and applications which support all these institutions, along with the implementation of new services and applications that are used to support and further the UW Medicine mission.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintaining advanced level knowledge of clinical application and database tools
  • Adapting and extending existing and new interface systems to support the advanced level end-user query capabilities
  • Guiding medical investigators with training and access to data services
  • Consulting with researchers to define, design, and execute the delivery of advanced level data sets
  • Analyzing, coding, and testing advanced level database and software components to support successful delivery of data for consultation

REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent education and/or experience.
  • 4+ years of experience to include:
  • 4+ year(s) of experience with end user support in an IT domain
  • 3+ year(s) of research IT experience, preferably in the clinical domain (e.g. data extraction, data management, IT management of large scale clinical trials)
  • Advanced database programming experience, including complex query optimization and performance tuning
  • Advanced experience with formal software engineering practices (e.g. source code version control, validation, deployment, maintaining Microsoft-based applications, etc.)
  • Advanced object-oriented programming skills using an integrated development environment like Visual Studio .NET
  • Advanced experience with requirements gathering and analysis, including direct work with end users or customers
  • Advanced understanding of database design
  • Advanced problem solving and debugging skills
