Description
Exalt Health, an acute rehabilitation hospital, provides an intensive rehabilitation program, and admitted patients must be able to tolerate three hours of intense rehabilitation services per day. Focused on caring for patients with complex rehabilitative needs such as stroke, spinal cord injury, brain injury, head trauma, medically debilitation conditions, neurological disorders, cardio-pulmonary amputations, orthopedic injuries, and multiple major traumas.
Position Summary
As a Remote Evaluating Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital part in our interdisciplinary team by conducting comprehensive patient evaluations virtually. This role involves providing virtual direct patient care. Working collaboratively via secure video conference with an on-site Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) who will collect the required physical and cognitive data in con. Utilizing this data, you will complete thorough patient assessments and develop individualized treatment plans to maximize patients' independence in their activities of daily living (ADLs) and overall functional outcomes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough patient evaluations remotely via secure video conferencing.
  • Direct and collaborate with on-site Occupational Therapy Assistants to collect required data for assessments of activities of daily living (ADLs), upper extremity function, fine and gross motor skills, cognitive function, visual-perceptual skills, and sensory integration.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans focused on maximizing functional independence, adapting environments, and improving quality of life, based on the data collected during the virtual assessment.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to review and implement treatment plans.
  • Document evaluation sessions accurately and maintain detailed patient records within the electronic medical record system.
  • Participate virtually in interdisciplinary team meetings and collaborate effectively with nurses, physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain a positive and professional demeanor, fostering a supportive and encouraging environment for patients during virtual interactions.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
(Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
Licenses or Certifications:
  • Must maintain an active, unencumbered clinical license to practice Occupational Therapy within your state of residence.
  • The clinical license must be a recognized compact/multi-state license (Occupational Therapy Licensure Compact).
  • Current BLS required via the American Heart Association or American Red Cross (required).

Education, Training, and Experience:
  • Master's or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy (MOT or OTD) from an accredited program (required).
  • 2 years of Inpatient Rehabilitation experience (preferred).
  • Experience or certification in telehealth or remote clinical assessments (preferred).

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, specifically adapted for virtual healthcare environments.

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Speaks and communicates English effectively in verbal and written format; writes legibly.
  • Functions proficiently in a Microsoft Windows environment (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) and utilizes video conferencing software effectively.
