Help shape health policy with real-world impact

The Cigna Group Government Affairs internship offers hands-on experience in advocacy and public policy. You will join the Washington, DC Government Affairs team and help advance practical policy positions that support the health and vitality of our customers and communities. You will learn from experienced colleagues, contribute to meaningful work, and gain exposure to leaders across the organization.

What you'll do

  • Analyze health care delivery, legislative, and regulatory policy issues.

  • Research and support policy development and high-level briefing projects.

  • Communicate findings clearly through concise written materials and presentations.

  • Partner on cross-functional projects with Advocacy, Public Policy, Executive Government Affairs, International, and other teams.

  • Support stakeholder engagement and participate in discussions with senior leaders.

  • Take part in a guided mentoring experience and contribute as an active member of the team.

What you need to do the job

  • Interest in a career in government affairs, public policy, or health care policy.

  • General understanding of government processes and current health policy issues.

  • Strong research, analysis, judgment, and problem-solving skills.

  • Clear and persuasive written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to collaborate, bring new ideas, manage priorities, and follow through on commitments.

  • Coursework or experience in public policy, government, political science, health policy, or a related area is preferred.

Location and work authorization

  • This internship is based in Washington, DC.

  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
