Ministry Coach Intern - Black Campus Ministries (Focused Ministry)

To advance the purpose of InterVarsity, this position mentors and empowers fellow students to establish and lead Black Campus Ministries, fostering spiritual growth, community engagement, and cultural awareness on their campuses.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Personal:
  • Be a maturing disciple of Jesus Christ: growing in love for God, God's Word, God's people of every ethnicity and culture, and God's purposes in the world

Leadership/Management:
  • Manage day to day Donor Services Team with excellence, creating a healthy spiritual team that loves one another, ministry partners, and donors
  • Provide spiritual leadership mentoring to students
  • Regularly assess the ministry's progress and provide constructive feedback
  • Promote understanding and appreciation of black culture and heritage within the campus community engage positively with the supervision and training received from the staff director

Administration:
  • Organize coaching meetings and training sessions
  • Maintain records of meetings, events, and student participation
  • Prepare and submit reports on ministry activities and progress
  • Maintain databases of student contacts, attendance, and engagement metrics

Ministry Partnership Development & Public Relations:
  • Secure personal prayer support through Vital Intercession Partnership (VIP) team
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with alumni
  • represent InterVarsity/BCM within the broader Christian community

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Annually affirm InterVarsity Statement of Faith
  • Ongoing call to InterVarsity's Black Campus Ministries and its mission
  • In final year of Bachelor's degree program or recent alumni of Black Campus Ministries
  • Minimum one year BCM ministry or equivalent work experience required
  • Experience of establishing a BCM chapter or small group preferred
  • Willing to receive ongoing training
  • Able to contribute to an open and supportive relationship with team members
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability and commitment to work in a diverse team environment
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Ability to organize events and manage the details involved
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and files
  • Ability to take charge of tasks; work independently without close supervision
  • Willingness to seriously consider ongoing appointment with InterVarsity

Time Commitment:
  • Initial Orientation: Four (4) 1-Hour Virtual Gatherings
  • Launch Gathering: in-Person (June 2025)
  • 5-7 hours per month
    • 1-Hour per week coaching call with ministry planters
    • 1-Hour per month check-in/training call with supervisor
    • 30 minutes per week for coaching preparation and administration tasks

Pay Range: $31,320.00 - $41,772.00 per year
Pay: This position is funded through personal fundraising. Accordingly, compensation will vary based on the ability of the individual to secure a donor team to fund the cost of his/her salary. The anticipated salary range for this position on a full-time basis (40 hours/week) is dependent on a variety of factors, including location and cost of living. The actual salary received, including any geographic adjustment to account for location and cost of living, is subject to the individual's ability to raise funds necessary to cover the full amount of such salary within the range set forth in the job posting details.
