UW Medical Center - Children's Center at Northwest has an outstanding opportunity for a Childcare Teacher
WORK SCHEDULE
  • 40 hours per week
  • Monday - Friday
  • Day Shift
  • 100% Onsite

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
The UW Medical Center Children's Center at Northwest offers year-round care to infants, toddlers and preschool and is operated by UW Medical Center.
UWMC Children's Center at Northwest is a community of families and teachers who strive to provide a safe and respectful environment where children and families are loved and cared for. Children have the opportunity for creativity and growth, so they master skills of resiliency, self-regulation and intrinsic motivation. Embracing the Reggio Emilia philosophy of focusing on a child's natural development, the Center is child-centered and directed, taking the philosophy that learning must make sense to the student in order to be effective and meaningful. The child's point of view is completely respected, and the student is encouraged to follow their own educational path.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Create and implement classroom curriculum as it pertains to the UWMC-Northwest Childcare Center philosophy
  • Oversee staff and volunteers working directly with the children
  • Oversee classroom arrangement, organization, storage, maintenance, and clean up
  • Attend to the daily needs of the children such as meal preparation, feeding and clean up and diaper changing and toilet training
  • Implement individual behavioral plans
  • Observe and document children's learning
  • Maintain daily written records on individual children including documenting attendance, eating, sleeping, accidents, and individual medication records
  • Recommend referrals and provide input for parent conferences
  • Attend all required trainings including State Training and Registry System (STARS) classes

REQUIREMENTS
Associate Degree or equivalent in Early Childhood Education or Child Development Associate
OR
Bachelor's Degree in related field
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
