A high-level overview of the role:
Clayful is seeking chat-based mental health coaches to support young people
This is a 1099 contract position
⏰ Coaches support during school hours (8am-6pm EST / 5am-3pm PST) based on chat demand, with hours ranging from 1-3 hours a week or sometimes none, depending on student needs
For those not already a certified coach, you must be available for our Clayful Coach Certification program from early November to mid-December 2024

Clayful, a seed-stage EdTech startup, is a mission-driven team of educators, coaches, and education tech experts dedicated to tackling the youth mental wellness crisis. Our goal: provide every middle and high school student in the U.S. with free, life-changing coaching.
Who We're Looking For:
We seek flexible, mission-driven individuals who are empathetic, care deeply about young people, and are tech-savvy, quick learners. Candidates must have experience in the mental health field, working with youth, or coaching. We're looking for those who are self-sufficient, can adapt to the dynamic nature of a remote startup, and have flexibility during school hours.
New to Coaching?
No problem! We offer the Clayful Certification Program, the only chat-based mental health coach certification program. Training is 24 hours (5 modules) over 6 weeks.
Already Certified?
If you've completed an accredited coaching program, you can fast-track your training by passing our assessments.
Coaching Hours & Flexibility
We adapt to the needs of the students we serve, which means that seasons, world events, school obligations, and the time of year can all influence the demand for coaching at any given time.
We are seeking coaches to support students when and where they need it. This means sometimes you will support students 1- 3 hours a week and sometimes not at all.
Coaching happens during school hours (8am-6pm EST / 5am-3pm PST).
What You'll Do:
  • Provide on-demand and weekly coaching to young people through our chat platform.
  • Use empathy and awareness to support students from diverse and historically marginalized communities.
  • Follow established protocols, especially during crisis-based chats, with support from licensed Coach Supervisors.
  • Continually learn and adapt to new online platforms and tools with ongoing training and support

What You'll Need
  • Experience in mental health, youth work, or coaching
  • Reliable laptop or computer (no tablets or cell phones) and internet with a minimum 50 mbps download speed.
  • A quiet, distraction-free workspace.
  • Must reside & be in the U.S. for the duration of your contract with Clayful.
