Job description

The Role
WellTheory is expanding our Health Coaching team. In this role, you'll partner with us to deliver our proprietary care program to members. This is a full-time role with benefits, working Monday - Friday 10a-6p PST.
About You
  • 2-3 years of experience working as a health coach, ideally working with autoimmune patients
  • NBC-HWC Board Certified (required)
  • Health coaching certification from an accredited, NBC-HWC-approved training program
  • Client-centric. You care about client needs and will advocate for what's in their best interests.
  • Motivational interviewing expert. You have deep, hands-on experience applying motivational interviewing with clients-not just familiarity with the concept-and know how to use it to uncover ambivalence, build intrinsic motivation, and guide clients toward meaningful, lasting change.
  • Behavior change expert. You have a deep knowledge of coaching techniques such as SMART goal setting and assessing stages of change/readiness, and know when and how to deploy them alongside Motivational Interviewing to drive clients toward meaningful changes.

Ideal Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with autoimmune disease preferred
  • Experience working at other digital health companies preferred
  • Thrives in ambiguity. You aren't afraid of navigating unfamiliar territory and find that you do your best work in new environments.

Who We're Looking For
You'll thrive in this role if you:
  • Are passionate about reversing the autoimmune epidemic and helping people live healthier lives through sustainable behavior change
  • Have experience delivering care that goes beyond traditional approaches, focusing on whole-body health and root-cause thinking
  • Are curious, open to growth, and able to provide and receive feedback constructively
  • Are excited to work in an innovative startup environment with autonomy and creativity
  • Have a passion for holistic health and are comfortable supporting members alongside our nutrition team
  • Are familiar with the autoimmune journey and can help members navigate their care through building self-advocacy tools
  • Have a growth-oriented mindset, with curiosity to learn and adapt in a rapidly evolving field

You might not enjoy working with us if you:
  • Like working in a more established, structured environment. You'll help build our company's culture, processes, and ways of working
  • Don't like working with ambiguity-since we're an early-stage startup, projects and priorities shift
  • Are looking for lots of guidance in your role-while our team members have a ton of expertise to share, we'll also be looking to you to take ownership and work autonomously
  • Like your work to be well-defined from the get-go. We'll be looking to you to bring your own experience and perspective to help us do the right things and flag if you think we should do things differently. You will have the opportunity to bring creativity and ownership to your projects
  • Prefer working only in person. We are a remote company and will have in-person events every year, but will not require employees to be in an office every day

What You'll Do
  • Apply motivational interviewing as a core part of every member interaction-helping members work through ambivalence, build their own motivation, and commit to change on their own terms
  • Partner with members to set personalized, sustainable goals and support them through behavior change using a health coaching approach
  • Reinforce care plans developed by Registered Dietitians and clinical staff, helping members translate recommendations into daily habits
  • Support members in adopting sustainable, anti-inflammatory lifestyle changes, addressing factors like stress, sleep, and movement
  • Assess members' stages of change and readiness, adapting your coaching approach and use of motivational interviewing accordingly
  • Participate in specialized training to build expertise in functional health, autoimmune protocols, and advanced motivational interviewing techniques
  • Work cross-functionally with dietitians, clinicians, and the broader care team to integrate WellTheory's care model into members' lives

Details:
  • Location: Remote
  • Monday - Friday 10a-6p PST
  • Role type: Full time

Starting salaries based on experience (rrequires active NBC-HWC or equivalent board certification): $64k - $73k
  • Additional equity compensation
  • Comprehensive benefits package:
    • Flexible time off policy, 9 paid holidays, and a 9-day full office closure at the end of the year
    • Health, dental, and vision insurance; health FSA; 401k
    • Home office stipend and professional development opportunities
    • Regular team events and off-sites

At WellTheory, we're committed to building a diverse, inclusive, and authentic team - so if you're excited about this role but your experience doesn't check every box, we encourage you to apply anyway. You might be exactly who we're looking for.
