A Technical FinOps Analyst sits at the intersection of cloud engineering and finance, focusing on making technology spending transparent, measurable, and optimized. They work closely with engineering, operations, and finance teams to ensure cloud resources are used efficiently and cost-effectivelyCore Responsibilities
  • Usage analysis: Identify usage anomalies, over-provisioning, and underutilized resources to recommend right-sizing or decommissioning
  • Technical recommendations: Work with engineering to translate reserved instance strategies, spot pricing, and infrastructure changes into actionable cost-saving measures
  • Cost visibility & allocation: Build and maintain cost allocation frameworks to track cloud spend (AWS, Azure, GCP) by team, project, or service
  • Chargeback/showback programs: Implement and manage programs that assign cloud costs to business units or projects
  • Budgeting & forecasting: Collaborate with finance to set and monitor cloud budgets, and forecast spend based on usage trends
  • Reporting & dashboards: Create dashboards and reports for leadership and stakeholders to visualize spend, savings, and efficiency metrics

Required Qualifications

  • Technical: Cloud architecture knowledge (AWS, Azure, GCP), infrastructure monitoring, scripting (Python, Bash), and familiarity with cost management tools (e.g., AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management).
  • Analytical: Financial modeling, data analysis, SQL, and statistical analysis.
  • Soft skills: Cross-functional collaboration, stakeholder communication, and influencing technical and financial decisions
  • Education: Often a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, finance, or accounting
  • Certifications: FinOps Certified Practitioner (FOCP) ,AWS Solutions Architect Associate, Azure Administrator (AZ-104) or Google Cloud Associate Cloud Engineer

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting FinOps or cloud cost management practices across AWS, Azure, and/or GCP environments.
  • Familiarity with cloud billing exports, invoicing workflows, purchase order processes, and audit support documentation.
  • Knowledge of cloud financial management tools such as Cloudability or similar platforms.
  • Experience developing executive-level reporting and dashboards for financial and operational performance.
  • We prefer relevant certifications in cloud, finance, or process improvement disciplines.

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting.
