Job Description

Join Takeda as the Director, Market Access and Channel Strategy, US GI & Immunology out of our Cambridge, MA office. Where you will develop and oversee sustainable market access and channel strategies that will ensure assigned Gastroenterology (GI) & Immunology BU's products achieve the most optimal access positions for patients.

How you will contribute

  • Lead market access launch preparation for upcoming dermatology and immunology launches
  • Develops and oversees sustainable market access and channel strategies that will ensure GI & Immunology BU's products achieve the most optimal access positions for existing and future products.
  • Ensures close collaboration with other Managed Markets colleagues along with Medical, HEOR, Marketing, Finance, Analytics and Sales colleagues to capture relevant payer insights, identify data gaps, develop compelling value propositions for field-based teams
  • Understands reimbursement landscape and incorporates into market access & pricing strategy.
  • Collaborates with HEOR in the development of payer evidence needs and ensures it is integrated into the Medical/HEOR evidence plan.
  • Manage and execute payer and channel specific marketing plans to achieve patient and business objectives
  • Ensures brand plans incorporate the needs of patient, payer and healthcare provider.
  • Aligns organization on metrics to assess impact of key market access strategies and tactics.
  • Contributes to annual brand planning, forecasting and budgeting process to represent payer and channel customer segment.
  • Partners with New Product Planning and Business Development functions to inform market access inputs for early-stage / targeted assets.
  • Identifies, as appropriate, payer/ system specific opportunities for innovative arrangements based on brand strategies in collaboration with Strategic Partnerships
  • Oversees all payer and channel market research for relevant products
  • Works to actively develop next generation of Market Access and Channel Strategy talent
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field required
  • 10 plus years of experience in biopharma market access (across payer, PBM, IDN, GPO, Specialty Pharmacy, etc) required
  • Experience with biologics and specialty products preferred
  • Visionary and forward thinking with the ability to influence and effectively drive organizational change and continuous innovation.
  • Ability to identify areas for process and systems innovation and implement change that will enhance the overall effectiveness of the team.
  • Demonstrated success in development/execution of targeted briefings for executive leadership, senior management and business leaders; Well organized, highly motivated, innovative, process driven, results oriented; and outstanding oral and written communications skills.
  • Understanding of US payer market dynamics and how managed care organizations make decisions across commercial and public channels.
  • Knowledge on specialty pharmacy (how they operate, drivers, strengths) to ensure a positive patient experience
  • Knowledge across multiple market channels including: payer, PBM, IDN, distribution, specialty pharmacy, GPO' s.
  • Knowledge of the Commercial brand planning process
  • Financial acumen including resource allocation, budget management and reporting, strategic sourcing and P&L evaluation.
  • Analytical capabilities to ensure robust inputs to decision-making.

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$177,000.00 - $278,080.00


The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S. based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
