General Job Summary:

The Senior Centrifugal Pump Engineer will be involved in various analysis tasks of rocket engine components, and product/process improvements. Responsibilities will include all aspects of the design process including conceptual design, geometry creation through CAD programs, CFD analysis to solve technical problems and provide test support. This position provides opportunities for diverse technical challenges to work on a unique set of programs in a team environment.

Remote Position


  • 10+ years' applied industry aerodynamic design experience in centrifugal pumps with a proficient understanding of practical design limitations, and analysis.
  • Experience in all phases of development: conceptual design, analysis, test and validation.
  • Experience in hydrodynamic design and cavitation testing of inducers, pumps and volutes for turbopump rocket applications is preferred.
  • Proficiency in computational fluid dynamics and associated geometry and meshing tools (ANSYS CFX, Fluent, ICEM, Turbogrid, Autogrid) is strongly desired.
  • Experience in use of geometry generator and throughflow analysis for Centrifugal bladed geometry (AxCent, BladeGen, Vista).
  • Relevant experience in aerodynamic design of flowpath components for centrifugal pumps (e.g. radial inlets, inlet guide vanes, inducers, impellers, vaned and vaneless diffusers, cross-over/return channels, and discharge volutes).
  • Available to be onsite for testing, design reviews and provide support for operational issues as needed.
  • Possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the assigned duties, including computer skills.
  • Maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by company and government requirements.
  • Communicate and interact effectively with peers, supervisors, and public, including maintaining respect for others, and following company policies.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow instructions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills: experience integrating work in a team, interfacing with customer.

 Education and Experience:

  • BS/MS/PhD in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering
  • 10+ years' experience of aerodynamics focus on centrifugal pump turbomachinery applications and/or centrifugal pumps
  • Proficiency with Ansys software preferred
  • Proficiency with CAD (NX software strongly desired)

  • Office and/or manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, mouse, phones, rotating wrist, using tools/equipment).
