2. Senior Data Scientist (1 Positions)
Position Title - Senior Data Scientist
Location: Remote
Position Summary
The Senior Data Scientist provides advanced analytical expertise supporting the SBA OIG Technology Solutions Division through the design, development, deployment, and continuous improvement of machine learning models, predictive analytics, fraud detection methodologies, and advanced statistical analysis. The position directly supports audits, investigations, and fraud prevention initiatives by transforming complex structured and unstructured datasets into actionable intelligence.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain supervised and unsupervised machine learning models.
  • Develop fraud detection algorithms using statistical modeling and predictive analytics.
  • Perform exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, and model optimization.
  • Conduct large-scale data cleansing, normalization, and validation.
  • Develop NLP solutions utilizing OCR, semantic similarity, vector embeddings, and Large Language Models.
  • Support criminal investigations through advanced analytics and investigative data products.
  • Produce dashboards, reports, executive briefings, and interactive visualizations using Power BI and related tools.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineers to optimize cloud-based analytical environments.
  • Document methodologies, analytical processes, and model performance.
  • Present findings to technical and executive audiences.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree (or higher) in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 10 years of advanced analytics experience.
  • Minimum 5 years developing predictive models and fraud analytics.
  • Minimum 3 years supporting investigative or compliance analytics.
