Job description

Your Certified Medical Assistant Skills Can Support Veterans

Remote Documentation Review — Federal Contract5 Openings | Fully Remote | July 2026 Start

You spent years building clinical knowledge. This role puts it to work in a new way — reviewing medical documentation that directly supports Veterans' disability compensation claims. No patients, no bedside, no weekends. Just focused, meaningful work you can do from home.

This is a 3-month W2 contract, not a permanent position. If you're between roles, recently retired from clinical work, or want a clean short-term engagement while your benefits are covered elsewhere, this was built for you.

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY

  • Review Veteran case files, lab results, and medical records for accuracy and completeness before disability exams move forward
  • Catch missing information or inconsistencies and resolve them with Veterans and providers by phone and email
  • Work within EMR systems and Microsoft Word to complete reviews
  • About half your time is documentation, half is communication

YOU'RE A FIT IF YOU HAVE

  • CMA certification (strongly preferred) or equivalent medical training: MA, LPN, HIT, EMT, or military Medic/Corpsman — or completed coursework in Anatomy and Physiology, Medical Terminology, Human Body Systems, and Common Diseases
  • Real experience with EMR systems and healthcare documentation
  • Strong medical terminology knowledge you can demonstrate
  • Microsoft Office proficiency and 40+ WPM typing speed
  • U.S. citizenship; ability to pass a Public Trust background check (7-10 years) and federal drug screen
  • A private, HIPAA-compliant home office with a door
  • Hard-wired cable or fiber internet — no Wi-Fi, satellite, or hotspot connections (including Starlink or T-Mobile Home Internet)
  • Complete availability for all 5 training days and the full 13-week contract with no time off

EVEN BETTER IF YOU BRING

  • Documentation review, QA, or clinical audit background
  • Behavioral health, disability claims, or VA/military healthcare experience
  • Home health, hospice, or case management background
  • Prior remote work experience
