About the role
Our Capital Markets Team is looking for a Principal to support the lending and financing activities of the Toast Capital Loan Program. This is a key role that will help us continue to grow and scale the lending business effectively. Reporting to the Senior Director of Capital Markets, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the Capital Markets team, while working cross-functionally with stakeholders across the Fintech business line.
The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, an ability to navigate complex data driven decisions, and a keen attention to detail. This role is open to remote candidates across the US, with a preference for the East Coast (EST).
A day in the life (Responsibilities)
  • Perform analysis and build financial models to help inform data-driven capital markets decisions, gathering inputs from various stakeholders
  • Create and manage ongoing ABS-style reporting and audit cadences to uphold various types of financing relationships
  • Establish and maintain relationships with external capital teams to ensure compliance with contractual obligations
  • Help negotiate and execute on new capital commitments in the form of private credit arrangements
  • Collaborate with the Risk, R&D, Strategic Finance, Accounting, Product, Legal, Compliance, and Operations teams to evaluate and address capital markets impacts of new initiatives
  • Drive operational efficiencies across all capital markets functions
  • Build presentations to explain complex concepts, and deliver key information to a variety of audiences

What you'll need to thrive (Requirements)
  • 7+ years of professional experience, including 3+ years specifically within capital markets, corporate treasury, or investment banking
  • Bachelor's Degree Finance, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
  • SQL, Advanced Excel, and financial modeling skills, with the ability to build robust financial models analyze opportunities and build business cases for pursuit
  • Experience building and producing reporting for warehouse facilities, securitizations, or forward-flow programs
  • Strong communication skills and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to interface with both internal and external stakeholders

What will help you stand out (Nonessential Skills/Nice to Haves)
  • Experience working within the Financial Technology (Fintech) or Saas space
  • A background in capital markets operational support for a large-scale lending program, with exposure various financing structures
  • Big data analytics skill sets, including the use of Python and other data programming languages

The base salary range for this role is listed below. The starting salary will be determined based on skills, experience, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, our total rewards components include cash compensation (overtime, bonus/commissions if eligible), equity, and benefits.
