The Jumbo and Non-QM Underwriter is responsible for reviewing, conditioning, and underwriting Jumbo and Non-QM mortgage loans in accordance with company policies, investor guidelines, and regulatory requirements. This position ensures accuracy, completeness, and compliance with all loan documentation while delivering timely credit decisions and supporting the underwriting team with guidance and expertise.
Evolving as a Jumbo and Non-QM Underwriter by having...
  • High School Diploma or GED required; college degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of recent underwriting experience in Jumbo and Non-QM products required.
  • Strong knowledge of non-conforming/non-agency Jumbo and Non-QM loan programs.
  • Superior knowledge of property and credit underwriting requirements for FNMA, FHLMC, Non-Agency Jumbo, Non-QM, and private investor guidelines.
  • Strong working knowledge of automated mortgage LOS and underwriting systems required; experience with Encompass preferred.

  • Review and underwrite loan submissions in accordance with FNMA, FHLMC, Non-Agency Jumbo, Non-QM, and other private investor guidelines, as well as internal overlays.
  • Perform credit, income, and property analysis for conventional, Jumbo, and Non-QM loan files, including complex financial profiles.
  • Accurately analyze tax returns, calculate income, and assess borrower eligibility for complex or atypical financial scenarios.
  • Identify and assess loan risk factors related to borrower credit, collateral, and loan structures.

  • Clearly communicate credit decisions and conditions to internal staff and external partners.
  • Assist the VP of Underwriting, including support on the scenario desk and managing email inquiries from the field and other underwriters.
