Job description

As a team member in Finance at Nationwide, a Fortune 100 company with nearly $70 billion in annual sales, the opportunities are endless! Let Nationwide help create your career journey! At Nationwideยฎ, "on your side" goes beyond just words. Our customers are at the center of everything we do and we're looking for associates who are passionate about delivering extraordinary care.
Actuarial Sr Consultant, General Liability Pricing (Agribusiness & E&S) - REMOTE
If you're a P&C actuarial professional looking to own a portfolio, influence general liability pricing strategy, and work with modern tools in a highly collaborative environment, this role is designed for you.
Own a High-Impact Portfolio
  • Take lead actuarial responsibility for one of Nationwide's portfolios, driving pricing strategy for a complex, growing book of business.
  • Serve as the primary actuarial contact and spokesperson for your portfolio with underwriting, product, finance, reserving, and leadership partners.
  • Translate complex pricing analysis into clear recommendations that shape rate actions, underwriting strategy, and overall profitability.

Modern Tools, Modern Mindset
  • Step into a post-modernization actuarial environment where we've invested in better data, tools, and processes to support deeper portfolio analytics.
  • Bring fresh ideas and challenge "we've always done it this way" thinking-this team is actively re-evaluating methodologies and looking for smarter, more efficient ways to price and manage risk.
  • Use (or grow into) modern analytics tools like Databricks, Python, SQL, R, and advanced Excel to build, refine, and automate pricing analyses and dashboards.

Leadership Exposure & Career Growth
  • Act as the face of pricing for your portfolio-leading discussions, presenting results, and framing the "so what" for senior leaders and cross-functional partners.
  • Gain broad visibility across underwriting, product, finance, reserving, and other actuarial teams, positioning this role as a strong stepping stone toward future actuarial leadership.
  • Partner with an experienced associate who supports day-to-day tasks, freeing you up to focus on higher-level analytics, storytelling, and strategy.

Filings Experience on Admitted Business
  • Work on an admitted agribusiness portfolio, partnering closely with a dedicated filings team on rate filings and Department of Insurance (DOI) interactions.
  • Help shape and support filings-providing actuarial expertise, rate indications, and technical rationale-without owning every filings detail alone.
  • Ideal for GL pricing actuaries who either already have filings experience or are interested in building that capability in a supported, collaborative way.

Collaborative, Flexible Work Environment (Remote Eligible)
  • Join a highly collaborative, mostly remote team-we are open to candidates across the United States and experienced in working virtually across locations and time zones.
  • Work in a culture that feels "startup-like" within a large, stable company: open to experimentation, continuous improvement, and new perspectives.
  • Benefit from strong cross-functional partnerships and a supportive environment that values learning, innovation, and shared problem-solving.

Preferred Background
  • P&C actuarial pricing experience in general liability or related commercial lines, ideally with exposure to agribusiness, E&S, or other specialty portfolios.
  • Progress toward or completion of ACAS/FCAS; we welcome strong near-ACAS candidates with relevant GL pricing experience.
  • Proven analytical and communication skills, with a track record of turning data into clear business stories and influencing decisions.
  • Comfort working in an evolving environment, owning outcomes, and proactively seeking better ways to price, analyze, and manage complex books of business.

If you're a general liability pricing actuary looking for a remote-eligible, high-visibility role where you can truly own a portfolio and help shape the future of P&C actuarial pricing at Nationwide, we'd love to hear from you.
