What is a remote business manager?

Remote Business Managers are professionals who oversee business operations, teams, and projects from a location outside of a traditional office setting. They coordinate activities, manage resources, and ensure that business goals are met while working remotely. Their role often includes strategic planning, performance monitoring, and communication with stakeholders through digital platforms. Remote Business Managers leverage technology to lead teams, maintain productivity, and drive business growth regardless of geographic location.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote business manager?

In this highly visible role, you will identify new opportunities, build lasting customer relationships, and help customers maximize the reliability, performance, and longevity of their critical power assets.

You will work with customers across industries such as oil & gas, mining, metals, semiconductors, renewable energy, and other emerging sectors, helping them solve complex operational challenges related to substations, transformers, and high-voltage equipment service. By combining market insight, strategic thinking, and customer-focused solutions, you will play a key role in expanding our service footprint and supporting our ambitious growth objectives.

Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures and guidelines.

This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially driven professional who enjoys building relationships, developing growth strategies, and creating value for customers while contributing to a more sustainable energy future.

How you'll make an impact

  • Identify, develop, and capture new service opportunities for substations, transformers, and high-voltage equipment across U.S. industrial markets.

  • Develop and execute strategic business development plans aligned with long-term growth objectives.

  • Build trusted relationships with customers, partners, sales teams, and technical consultants.

  • Understand customer operational challenges and position service programs, service agreements, and lifecycle solutions that deliver value.

  • Conduct market research and analyze industry trends, customer needs, and competitive activity.

  • Collaborate with sales and market development teams to create and execute account capture strategies.

  • Build, manage, and convert a robust pipeline of opportunities while providing regular progress updates.

  • Champion Hitachi Energy's values of safety, integrity, collaboration, and customer focus in every interaction.

Your background

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development, sales, account management, or a related commercial role.

  • Experience working with industrial customers in sectors such as oil & gas, mining, metals, semiconductors, renewables, or similar markets.

  • Strong understanding of energy infrastructure, power systems, transformer services, substations, or high-voltage equipment.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, relationship-building, and negotiation skills.

  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically up to 50%.

More about us

  • Join Hitachi Energy and contribute to advancing a sustainable energy future through innovative technologies and solutions.

  • Collaborate with diverse, highly skilled teams in an inclusive environment that values learning, safety, integrity, and continuous improvement.

  • Benefit from exciting career development opportunities, global exposure, and the chance to make a meaningful impact on the energy transition.

These may include, but are not limited to, enhanced criminal history checks, credit history reviews (where legally permissible), sanctions screening, or other due diligence measures aligned with the responsibilities of the position.

The scope and depth of any background or security review will be determined based on the nature of the role and business necessity, and will always be conducted in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws. Candidates will be notified and, where required, asked to provide consent prior to the initiation of any such checks.
