Job description

Senior Tax Advisor — Dental Practice Specialty

Duckett Ladd  •  Springfield, MO or fully remote  •  $110,000+ base + bonus

About us

We're a boutique CPA firm built around helping dentist grow their practice and keep more of what they earn. Our clients are the dentists, orthodontists, oral surgeons, and DSO operators who need more than a tax return — they need a year-round strategist who knows their world. We’re growing rapidly which is creating tremendous opportunities in the firm, specifically in the tax advisory role.

The role

You will be the lead tax advisor for a portfolio of high-net-worth dental practice clients. This is an advisory seat, not a compliance-management seat. Your week is split between proactive strategy work, client conversations, and quarterbacking the team that handles execution. You will be the trusted face of the firm to your clients — the person whose name is on the engagement, whose calls get returned same-day, and whose strategies actually get implemented.

What you'll actually do

·        Own 50–60 dental practice client relationships as their go-to tax advisor — quarterly check-ins, mid-year strategy reviews, and year-end planning meetings.

·        Build and present multi-year tax projections, scenario models, and savings strategies in language a dentist actually wants to hear.

·        Lead implementation: coordinate with our preparers, bookkeepers, and the client's CFP, attorney, and banker so strategies actually land on the return.

·        Stay on top of the dental industry — DSO trends, associate-to-owner transitions, equipment expensing under §179 and bonus, sales/use tax exposure, pass through entity taxation, real estate held alongside the practice, etc.

·        Mentor tax seniors and review their analytical work.

You should apply if

·        You hold a CPA (or EA + Master of Taxation) and have 5–10+ years in public accounting, preferably with at least 3 in a dedicated dental, medical-practice, or high net worth (HNW) business-owner book.

·        You enjoy the client conversation as much as the technical work. You return calls fast, write clear emails, and your clients describe you as someone who actually explains things.

·        You're comfortable being the relationship lead — your name is on the engagement, not buried two levels down.

·        You're tired of the partner-track grind but still want a real career path and ownership of your client relationships.

·        Bonus signal: meaningful prior experience designing and implementing tax strategies for dental practices, medical professionals, or other high-net-worth business owners — entity design, owner comp, retirement, real estate, equipment expensing, multi-state, practice acquisitions, and transitions.

Why this seat is different

·        Real advisory work, not compliance triage. Compliance gets done by our prep team. You do the strategy and the relationship.

·        50-hour busy seasons, not 70. We have engineered the work so that the heavy week is 50 hours, and we mean it.

·        Springfield or fully remote. We have a real office in Springfield, MO if you want one. If you don't, we will fly you in for team all-hand meetings.

·        Comp built for senior advisors. Base $110,000+, plus quarterly profit sharing bonus. We invest heavily in your development — CPE, license fees, advanced-strategy training, and continuing education are fully covered, and we expect you to use them.

·        A real path to Director or Practice Leader without the partner-track politics. We will talk about long-term ownership when it is earned, not as a price of admission.

How to apply

Please apply through ZipRecruiter. Along with your résumé add a short note about one tax strategy you have implemented for a dental or HNW client that you are proud of — and what made it work.

Duckett Ladd is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applicants of every background, identity, and experience level.
