This role is a part of the Joint Business Finance team within the Alliances organization. You’ll manage a portfolio of American’s global airline partners, coordinating commercial, operational, regulatory, and financial workstreams that directly influence AA’s network, customer offering, and revenue performance. All in close collaboration with Network Planning, Revenue Management, Loyalty, Finance, and others.

What you'll do

  • Maintain a working relationship with AA’s Joint Business and partners: British Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus, Finnair, Japan Airlines, Qantas Airways, and Alaska Airlines.
  • Calculate and validate transfer payments, settlement outcomes, and revenue-sharing distributions across a Joint Business, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and consistency in settlement mechanics.
  • Support the evaluation, structuring, and onboarding of new partnership opportunities, including economic design work.
  • Lead and support negotiations on new concepts, commercial initiatives, governance topics, and outstanding issues with partner airlines.
  • Present and explain financial settlements and complex Alliance Share Agreement concepts to internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Analyze aspects of the Joint Business Agreement including capacity governance, frequent flyer program activity, etc.
  • Drive continuous improvement across alliance processes, including issue identification, root‑cause analysis, cross‑functional coordination, and solution implementation.
  • Draft and review contractual language related to settlement mechanics, economic structures, and partnership governance in coordination with internal and external counsel.
  • Collaborate closely with Network Planning, AAdvantage, Revenue Management, Accounting, Legal, Sales, and Finance to execute commercial strategies and ensure alignment across partnership initiatives.
All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience/training
  • 2 years of experience in an analytics, finance, economics, or other quantitative field
  • Microsoft Excel proficiency required
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with an emphasis on financial modeling
  • Ability to structure complex problems and generate creative solutions
  • Structurally minded with the ability to document processes
  • Ability to lead and influence cross‑functional groups
  • International travel required

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • MBA or equivalent experience preferred
  • Commercial airline experience strongly preferred (RM, Pricing, Network, Sales, Loyalty, Alliances, or related areas)
  • Understanding of airline partnerships, codeshare, interline or loyalty structures
  • Strong relationship building and influence skills across diverse internal and external teams
  • Contract negotiation, decision support and financial oversight

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Excellent Excel & Financial Modeling
  • Strong quantitative, writing and presentation development abilities
  • Experience using SQL, Alteryx, and Tableau or similar tools is a plus
