Senior Front-end Developer Job Description
Responsibilities
  • Understand client requirements and how they translate into features
  • Collaborate with a team of IT professionals to set specifications for new features
  • Design creative prototypes according to specifications
  • Write high quality source code to program complete features within deadlines
  • Perform unit and integration testing before launch
  • Conduct functional and non-functional testing
  • Troubleshoot and debug features
  • Evaluate existing platforms to refactor, update, and add new features
  • Develop technical documents and handbooks to accurately represent platform design and code
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a front-end developer
  • Proficient understanding of web markup including HTML5, CSS3
  • High level understanding of server-side CSS pre-processing platforms, such as LESS and SASS
  • High level understanding of client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks, including jQuery
  • High level understanding of asynchronous request handling, partial page updates, and AJAX
  • High level understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them.
  • High level understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git, Mercurial, SVN
  • Basic knowledge of image authoring tools, to be able to crop, resize, or perform small adjustments on an image. Familiarity with tools such as Gimp or Photoshop is a plus.
  • Good understanding of SEO principles
  • A team player with excellent communication skills
  • Ability to convey information to non-technical colleagues concisely
  • Ability to collaborate inter-team and cross-team

  • Communicate front-end best practices to the team; enhancing efficiency and performance across the department.
  • Researches and evaluates new methodologies and technologies that improve the quality, reliability, and performance of the frontend department's site/software development systems and processes.
  • Employee has an individual responsibility for knowledge of and compliance with laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Compliance is a condition of employment and is considered an element of job performance

Qualifications
  • College diploma, or a university degree, in the field of computer science and/or 5+ years equivalent work experience
