Job description

At SimpsonScarborough, we spend our days building brands that endure, inspire, and elevate the all-important work of colleges and universities in shaping our future. Recognized as a leader in the higher education marketing industry, we are a fully remote team of approximately 70 employees working coast to coast.

We're looking for a Senior Writer to craft the words that bring our clients' brands to life - across campaigns, platforms, and everything in between. This role goes beyond clean copy: you're a conceptual thinker who can define a brand voice, sell a creative idea, and write with the kind of clarity and humanity that actually moves people.

The Senior Writer works collaboratively across the Creative team and beyond, contributing fresh ideas, sharpening executions, and lending your craft wherever it can make our work stronger. If you write with both strategic intent and genuine originality, we'd love to see your work.

What You'll Do

  • Write compelling headlines, copy, and calls to action across a range of brand and campaign deliverables - media, social, print, environmental, audio, and more.
  • Develop brand narratives that support and sell the underlying creative idea, contributing conceptual thinking that communicates client strategy in bold, engaging ways.
  • Define brand voices that are distinctive, strategic, and built to stand out in the market.
  • Create verbal systems for brands and campaigns, including copy frameworks and guidelines for consistent application.
  • Collaborate closely with creative peers to sharpen ideas and executional details, consistently delivering work the agency can take pride in.
  • Produce high-quality, strategically grounded creative work that communicates the real emotional benefits behind what our clients need to say.
  • Support collaborators across teams with writing contributions that make their work more powerful - and keep your manager looped in on those exchanges.

What We're Looking For

  • At least 4 years of agency copywriting experience - required.
  • A competitive portfolio of creative copywriting work from the past four years.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational instincts - able to prioritize, problem-solve independently, and escalate when needed.
  • Comfortable collaborating with remote, cross-functional teams nationwide.
  • Bachelor's degree and/or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

Salary, Benefits & Perks

  • Salary starts at $85,000 and will be commensurate with experience
  • Comprehensive benefits package including nationwide health, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k) with employer contribution, employer-paid life insurance and short-term disability
  • Flexible time off (FTO) with additional time-off options, including sick, volunteer & bereavement leave, paid parental leave, a day off on your birthday PLUS two agency-wide closures in the summer and winter
  • Monthly lifestyle stipend to supplement your routine wellness costs like streaming subscriptions, gym, or phone/internet costs

Our Commitment to Inclusion

At SimpsonScarborough, we believe diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging are central to our core values and critical to our long-term success. This work requires consistency, intentionality, vulnerability, and accountability. Through our efforts, we strive to make meaningful impact in our work, our workplace, and our industry.

SimpsonScarborough is an equal opportunity employer. We have a strict anti-harassment policy and a zero-tolerance non-discrimination policy. We welcome applicants of all backgrounds regardless of nationality, race, religion, gender identity, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
