Brief Role Description

We're seeking a proactive, business-minded Litigation Counsel with 3-5 years of litigation experience to join our Legal team in supporting the growth of Electrify America's electric vehicle charging network in the United States and Canada.  This is a unique, fully remote role designed for a skilled litigator with a strong desire to maintain their existing skills, while having an opportunity to develop varied expertise and generalist in house experience.  In addition to managing an active docket of litigation, pre-litigation disputes, and responses to third-party subpoenas, the right candidate will also serve as a trusted legal advisor to the business, providing pragmatic, commercially focused legal support across a broad range of departments and practice areas. The ideal candidate combines strong technical legal expertise with sound business judgment, effective stakeholder management, and a solutionsoriented mindset in a fastpaced, collaborative environment. 

Possible Tasks within this Role

Litigation & Dispute Resolution (60%) 

  • Manage litigation, pre-litigation, and other similar activities for the company 
  • Direct and oversee outside counsel engagement in litigation matters 
  • Generate and execute a consistent, uniform approach on similar matters 
  • Collaborate with Legal team colleagues on risk-reduction strategies and practices to be implemented across the organization 

General Business Legal Support (40%) 

  • Provide practical legal advice on routine business matters, policies, and compliance issues. 
Qualification requirements

Years of Relevant Experience:

  • 3-5 years

Education (Required):

  • JD from leading law school

Skills:

  • Analytical and conceptual thinking - using creative and strategic problem-solving skills to support the business' legal needs. 
  • Excellent judgment, and experience assessing and advising on legal risks, litigation outcomes, and/or compliance issues. 
  • Ability to work with a variety of internal departments and stakeholders across the organization 
  • Exceptional attention to detail; curious and solution-oriented mindset; and an ownership mindset and attitude toward their work. 
  • Managing or coordinating with outside counsel, as applicable 

Specialized Skills (Required):

  • Membership or eligibility for admission to the Virginia State Bar (including Corporate Counsel certificate) 
  • An interest and ability to continuously learn new practice areas and to develop as a generalist in a corporate environment. 
  • Comfort operating and advising fast-moving teams on legal issues that require nuance, risk-balancing, and navigating areas of law with substantial gray areas. 
  • Ability to proactively mitigate risk while enabling business growth. 
  • Proven ability to manage multiple matters and projects and work under tight timelines with close attention to detail. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills. 
  • Ability to multitask and operate independently; self-motivated and strong time-management skills.  

Specialized Skills (Desired):

  • Experience supporting Marketing teams and advising on compliance, brand protection, and advertising. 
  • Ability to waive in pro-hac vice in various U.S. jurisdiction 

Work Flexibility:

  • Travel up to 25%

In the state of California, the salary range is $122,300 - $222,600. 

In the state of Colorado, the salary range is $122,300 - $188,300. 

In the state of Washington, the salary range is $122,300 - $195,100. 

In New York City, the salary range is $159,000 - $222,600.

In Westchester County, the salary range is $139,400 - $222,600.

In the state of Rhode Island, the salary range is $122,300 - $188,300.
