Job description

JOB SUMMARY

As part of a dedicated team, this position will contribute to Marriott's commitment to fire protection and life safety across Marriott's select and mid-scale brands. The Manager will engage with cross-functional teams and external partners to support safe and compliant hotel development and operations. Ideal candidates bring technical expertise, strong communication skills, and a collaborative mindset to help shape environments that protect guests, associates, and assets. This position combines engineering insight with field engagement, offering meaningful impact and professional growth within a values-driven team. This is an entry to mid-level position, open to recent graduates and those with relevant fire protection work experience.  

CANDIDATE PROFILE  

Education and Experience  

 

Required 

  • BS in Fire Protection Engineering or equivalent experience  
  • 0-2 years of experience in fire protection or recent graduate 

Preferred 

  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) or Professional Engineering (PE) license 
  • Construction and plan review experience 
  • Working knowledge of International Building Code and NFPA Standards 

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES  

  • Provide high-quality engineering support to Global Design, Lodging Development, Operations, Brand, and Risk Management teams. 
  • Communicate effectively with managers, team members, property owners, consultants, engineers, and architects. 
  • Verify completion of work and compliance with Marriott design standards. 
  • Champion team values of integrity, accountability, and respect. 
  • Remain current with emerging technologies, national codes, and best methods for fire protection systems and features. 
  • Perform design reviews for egress, building construction, automatic sprinkler, fire alarm, and mechanical smoke control systems to ensure compliance of Marriott standards, system performance, equipment selection, constructability, maintainability, building code conformance, and sequencing. 
  • Conduct virtual and on-site construction support services including fire protection system project control functions (change-order analysis and schedule impacts), submittal reviews, mid-construction site review and report, transition planning (construction to operations), and acceptance testing. 
  • Tracks project schedules and construction documents. 
  • Communicate on a regular basis with the FLS Director- MSB US/Canada Construction, PIPs, and Renovations.  
  • Willingness to travel (25-50%).
