Regional Asset Protection Leader (RAPL) - NY Metro

About the role

The Regional Asset Protection Leader (RAPL) is primarily responsible for preventing financial loss caused by theft and fraud and for supporting safe store environments and operational excellence within the assigned region of NY Metro, New England and northern Mid-Atlantic (approximately 250 multi-brand stores). Regional Asset Protection Leaders are responsible for a multi-state region and are relationship based. They use data to strategically plan their time and conduct impactful store interactions.

The RAPL's region consists of fashion specialty retail locations across multiple KnitWell Group brands (Ann Taylor, LOFT, Lane Bryant, Chico's, Soma, WHBM, Talbots & Haven Well Within). The RAPL leverages tools to minimize loss to the Company, including (but not limited to) identifying incidents of theft and fraud, reviewing business and exception reports, and partnering with field leaders to address risk while doing so with the least amount of organizational effort and expense.

The impact you can have

  • Serve as a primary contact for store teams and District Leaders during escalated in-store incidents, including critical and active incidents. Partner with stores to gather details, provide guidance, and support the KnitWell culture through strong emotional awareness.
  • Work in partnership with stores and District Leaders to share observations, provide development, and invest in teams, strategies, and goal commitments that address shrink and SKU variance performance, customer engagement, omni-channel execution, theft awareness, and other operational controllables.
  • Develop and manage asset protection initiatives and projects, in conjunction with Asset Protection leadership and field leadership, to deliver gross margin impact, reduce shrink, and improve processes and procedures through in-person, virtual, and phone-based support.
  • Partner with brand field leaders to connect store and business strategy with asset protection opportunities through effective communication and training to reduce shrink, margin erosion, and safety risks.
  • Independently and in partnership with field leadership, communicate asset protection awareness by teaching and managing implementation of policies and procedures through in-person, web-based, and phone-based methods.
  • Manage other strategic projects, as assigned, related to asset protection, shrink reduction, SKU variance, risk management, and safety across KnitWell Group stores and its distribution network.
  • Partner with the analytics team and Manager of Investigations to resolve losses attributed to omni-channel fraud or external theft. Actively investigate concerns related to suspicious losses to determine situational facts; conduct interviews with involved parties; resolve theft/fraud matters; and, when warranted, submit detailed written reports for each investigation in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Serve as a community liaison with law enforcement and other retail/asset protection partners to recover merchandise or cash, support case prosecution, and facilitate restitution when warranted.
  • Perform in-person and virtual store visits to ensure compliance with company policies, identify areas of loss, and execute strategies related to shrink, safety, physical security, and risk management.
  • Perform additional tasks, as needed, to meet business needs as determined by KnitWell Group leadership.

You'll bring to the role
