Remote Brain Computer Interface information

What is a remote brain computer interface?

Remote Brain Computer Interface (BCI) jobs involve designing, developing, testing, or supporting technologies that enable direct communication between the brain and external devices, all while working from a remote location. These roles can include research scientists, software engineers, data analysts, or user interface designers specializing in BCI applications. Professionals in this field collaborate virtually to advance neurotechnology, contribute to assistive devices, or improve human-computer interaction. Remote BCI jobs often require expertise in neuroscience, computer science, machine learning, and signal processing.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote brain computer interface engineer?

To thrive as a Remote Brain Computer Interface Engineer, you need expertise in neuroscience, signal processing, software development, and ideally an advanced degree in biomedical engineering, computer science, or a related field. Familiarity with programming languages (such as Python or MATLAB), BCI platforms (like OpenBCI), and experience with EEG/EMG systems are typically required. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective remote communication abilities set candidates apart. These skills ensure the development and maintenance of robust BCI systems, successful remote collaboration, and the advancement of innovative neurotechnology solutions.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working in remote brain computer interface roles?

Professionals in remote BCI positions often encounter challenges such as maintaining effective collaboration with cross-disciplinary teams, managing sensitive data securely, and troubleshooting specialized hardware or software remotely. Since BCI projects typically involve neuroscientists, engineers, and software developers, clear communication and regular virtual meetings are essential for synchronizing progress. Additionally, remote work can make testing and debugging BCI devices more complex, requiring creative solutions and sometimes coordination with onsite staff or labs.

You will be responsible for developing high-quality, performant mobile applications across iOS and Android, building reusable cross-platform and native components, and collaborating with product, design, and back-end teams to deliver reliable, well-tested features that improve the digital journey for our customers.
  • As a Senior Mobile Application Developer you will play a key role in architecting and delivering end-to-end mobile experiences, from intuitive, responsive user interfaces to robust integrations with back-end services and APIs. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to translate business and customer needs into clean, maintainable, and high-performing mobile applications.
  • The ideal candidate is a versatile mobile engineer with deep experience in cross-platform development using React Native and native iOS (Swift) and/or Android (Kotlin), strong software design fundamentals, and a passion for building fast, reliable, and delightful mobile experiences.

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
  • Design, develop, and maintain mobile applications for iOS and Android using React Native and native code (Swift and/or Kotlin).
  • Build reusable, well-structured components and libraries that work seamlessly across platforms.
  • Integrate mobile applications with RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs, back-end services, and third-party SDKs.
  • Implement responsive, accessible, and intuitive user interfaces that deliver an exceptional mobile experience.
  • Optimize application performance, memory usage, battery consumption, and startup time across devices.
  • Manage the full mobile release lifecycle, including builds, code signing, and submissions to the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
  • Write clean, testable, and well-documented code, supported by unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated mobile builds, testing, and distribution (e.g., Fastlane, App Center, Azure DevOps, or GitHub Actions).
  • Participate in architecture and design discussions, contributing to technical decisions and mobile standards.
  • Collaborate with UX/UI designers to translate wireframes and prototypes into polished, pixel-accurate screens.
  • Partner with Product, QA, and back-end teams to plan, estimate, and deliver features in an Agile environment.
  • Conduct and participate in code reviews to uphold code quality, security, and performance standards.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production issues using crash reporting and analytics tools.
  • Ensure mobile applications meet security, privacy, and platform compliance requirements (Apple App Store and Google Play guidelines).
  • Stay current with emerging mobile technologies, frameworks, and platform updates, and recommend improvements.
  • Mentor junior developers and share best practices in modern mobile development.

  • 5+ years of professional mobile application development experience building and shipping production iOS and/or Android apps.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong experience with React Native and modern JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Hands-on native development experience with Swift (iOS) and/or Kotlin (Android).
  • Solid understanding of mobile architecture patterns (e.g., MVVM, MVC, Redux) and state management.
  • Experience integrating with RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs and handling offline data and caching.
  • Experience publishing and maintaining apps in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
  • Familiarity with mobile CI/CD and automated testing tools (e.g., Fastlane, App Center, Detox, XCTest, Espresso).
  • Understanding of mobile security, authentication and authorization, push notifications, and deep linking.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies and version control (Git).
  • Strong problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
Nice to have:

  • Experience with native module development and bridging between React Native and native code.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure preferred) and mobile back-end services.
  • Experience with analytics, A/B testing, and crash reporting tools (e.g., Firebase, App Center).
  • Experience in the telecommunications industry or with customer self-service applications.
