Billing Analyst (Contract-to-Hire)
Location: Alexandria, VA (3-4 days onsite)
Compensation: Conversion salary target of $70,000-$100,000

Cherry Bekaert Recruiting & Staffing is seeking a Billing Analyst to join a growing finance team supporting government contract operations. This role is responsible for preparing and managing government contract billings, maintaining accounts receivable integrity, performing reconciliations, and supporting audits and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have experience in government contracting, strong accounting fundamentals, and hands-on experience with Deltek Costpoint.
Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare government contract billings in accordance with FAR regulations, contract terms, and billing guidelines.
  • Maintain and reconcile billing system data with financial system records.
  • Prepare and review general ledger reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and resolve outstanding items.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with receivables audits, incurred cost submissions, and audit response preparation.
  • Support unbilled receivables and work closely with Treasury to resolve billing and collection issues.
  • Respond to internal and external billing inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with Contracts, Finance, and operational teams to ensure compliance with contract billing requirements.
  • Analyze accounting data, prepare reports, and recommend process improvements.
  • Support special projects and initiatives within the accounts receivable and billing functions.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable accounting standards, government regulations, and company policies.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field with accounting coursework.
  • 3+ years of accounting, finance, or government contracting experience.
  • Experience with government contract billing and knowledge of FAR regulations.
  • Cost accounting experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting best practices.
  • Experience with Deltek Costpoint is required.
  • Advanced reconciliation and general ledger analysis skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently.
  • Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check.
