Key Responsibilities

As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor at Lakeview Behavioral Health, you will:

  • Conduct thorough trauma-informed mental health assessments to evaluate patients' trauma histories and formulate appropriate treatment strategies.
  • Develop and execute individualized treatment plans aimed at facilitating trauma recovery and enhancing resilience among patients.
  • Utilize evidence-based therapeutic modalities, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), to deliver effective care.
  • Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions, equipping patients with tools to process their trauma, develop coping strategies, and navigate the healing journey.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists and fellow mental health professionals to provide comprehensive, integrated care tailored to each patient's needs.
  • Provide crisis intervention support during trauma-related emergencies, ensuring immediate assistance and safety for at-risk individuals.
  • Educate patients and their families about trauma responses and effective coping mechanisms, enhancing their understanding of available resources.
  • Maintain meticulous and confidential documentation in accordance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Engage in case consultations, team meetings, and ongoing professional development focused on advancements in trauma-informed care.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be clients experiencing various trauma-related disorders, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), complex trauma, and dissociative disorders. This role allows you to work intimately with clients, guiding them through their healing journey and helping improve their quality of life.

Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates must possess:

  • A Masterโ€™s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • A current and valid license as an LCSW, LMHC, or LMFT in the state of New York.
  • Strong knowledge of trauma-related disorders and trauma-informed treatment methodologies.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, coupled with a nurturing, non-judgmental approach.
Preferred Experience

While not essential, candidates who bring at least two years of post-licensure experience will be preferred. Demonstrated experience in delivering trauma-focused therapies and interventions will be especially valued.
