Public Health Counseling Services is seeking a dedicated and licensed Mental Health Counselor to join our compassionate team. In this full-time, remote role, you will provide professional mental health care to a diverse population of clients. Your primary objectives will include conducting mental health evaluations, creating tailored treatment plans, and facilitating both individual and group therapy sessions. This position is a remote role, allowing our counselors the flexibility to work from home while maintaining a collaborative atmosphere with team members via virtual tools. The remote setting is designed to offer our counselors the necessary support and resources they need to thrive professionally and personally. You will utilize a range of digital platforms for client interaction and case management.

• Conduct detailed preliminary interviews with clients, documenting case histories from initial consultations through to treatment completion.
• Evaluate clients’ mental, behavioral, and emotional health by utilizing structured assessments and therapeutic techniques.
• Craft effective intervention and recovery plans tailored to the unique needs of individuals, couples, families, and groups.
• Facilitate engaging individual therapy sessions and group therapy workshops, promoting a supportive environment for shared experiences.
• Regularly monitor client progress and modify treatment plans as necessary to align with their evolving needs and goals.
• Work collaboratively with other mental health specialists, including psychiatrists, nurses, and social workers, to ensure a comprehensive treatment approach.
• Follow up with clients, particularly those who have required hospitalization, to coordinate ongoing care and support.
• Educate patient families to reinforce healthy practices and assist them in managing challenges related to their loved ones’ mental health.

As a Mental Health Counselor at Public Health Counseling Services, you will work with a diverse client base, ranging from children to adults, who are facing various mental health challenges, such as anxiety disorders, depression, trauma, and substance use disorders. Your ability to connect with clients and understand their individual narratives will be pivotal in tailoring effective interventions that foster resilience and recovery.

• Master's or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
• Current and valid state licensure as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
• Successfully obtained the National Counselor Examination (NCE) and/or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).
• Demonstrated experience as a mental health counselor with a commitment to best practices in treatment.
• Proficient in managing electronic health records, especially utilizing systems like AVATAR.
• Understanding of co-occurring disorders, including physical health conditions and addictions.
• Knowledge of the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA) guidelines and practices.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, complemented by strong interpersonal abilities and a compassion-driven approach to client care.

Experience working in outpatient settings and with evidence-based therapeutic modalities will be highly regarded. Familiarity with trauma-informed care and the ability to navigate complex emotional and behavioral health challenges will also set candidates apart. The salary for this position ranges from $80,000 to $100,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
