What we are looking for:
Pivotal Consulting is looking for an accomplished Project Manager to lead a complex, end-to-end rollout of Tap to Pay debit card capabilities across a debit card portfolio. This role will coordinate a broad, cross-functional program involving card processors, payment networks, technology teams, operations, fraud, risk, compliance, marketing, and customer support to ensure a smooth implementation from planning through launch and stabilization.
The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in banking and payments, with a background in card issuing, EMV, contactless payments, digital wallet integrations, or debit card modernization initiatives. This person will oversee the program lifecycle, including strategy, planning, certification, deployment, customer communications, and post-launch support.
What you will do:
  • Lead the full delivery of the Tap to Pay debit card program from initiation through rollout and stabilization.
  • Build and maintain project plans, schedules, budgets, dependencies, milestones, and risk logs.
  • Coordinate work across business, technology, vendor, and regulatory stakeholders.
  • Establish program governance and deliver regular reporting to executive leadership.
  • Manage issue resolution, escalation paths, and decision tracking throughout the project.
  • Oversee implementation activities related to:
  • Contactless debit card issuance.
  • EMV and contactless card technology.
  • Card processor enhancements.
  • Mobile wallet enablement.
  • Card manufacturing and personalization.
  • Network certification and compliance requirements.
  • Work with payment networks such as Visa, Mastercard, and Discover to support certification and launch readiness.
  • Support testing strategy, user acceptance testing, and production readiness activities.
  • Partner with third-party vendors, card processors, personalization bureaus, and manufacturers to track deliverables and timelines.
  • Collaborate with Risk, Compliance, Legal, Information Security, and Fraud teams to address regulatory and operational requirements.
  • Drive operational readiness activities such as contact center training, branch training, process updates, customer communication, and continuity planning.
  • Serve as the main point of contact between internal teams, external partners, and executive sponsors.

What makes you a good fit:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Information Technology, Project Management, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of project or program management experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in banking, payments, card services, or financial services.
  • Experience leading customer-facing banking product implementations.
  • Experience managing multi-vendor technology projects.
  • Experience with debit card, credit card, or payment processing programs.

Knowledge and skills:
  • Strong understanding of debit card issuing, EMV chip technology, contactless payments, payment network operations, digital wallet ecosystems, and card lifecycle management.
  • Familiarity with banking regulatory, fraud, risk, and information security requirements.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent executive communication and presentation abilities.
  • Ability to balance competing priorities in a fast-moving environment.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience leading contactless card implementations, EMV migration efforts, debit card portfolio modernization, or digital wallet deployments.
  • Experience with card processors such as Fiserv, FIS, TSYS, or Jack Henry.
  • Familiarity with Visa or Mastercard certification processes.
  • Knowledge of PCI DSS and card network operating rules.
  • Experience using Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery methods.
  • Certifications such as PMP, PMI-ACP, SAFe Agilist, SAFe Program Consultant, or SAFe Scrum Master.

Compensation, Diversity and Benefit Information:
The pay range for this position in Washington is $50-$65/hr. W2 plus benefits; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, candidate location, and experience.
