Job description

Salal Credit Union is looking to add a new Business Banking Officer. This is a great opportunity to join our Business Banking team in a high-impact role where your relationship management, business development, and lending expertise directly contribute to the growth and success of our business banking portfolio.

You'll play a critical role in developing and strengthening relationships with business members, serving as a trusted advisor while identifying opportunities to deliver customized banking solutions. You'll work closely with business owners to understand their financial goals, provide strategic recommendations, and connect them with products and services that support their long-term success.

Beyond portfolio growth, you'll serve as an ambassador for Salal in the community, cultivating new business relationships, expanding market presence, and managing a diverse portfolio of business members. Your work will help drive member satisfaction, portfolio performance, and sustainable growth while maintaining sound risk management practices and regulatory compliance.

This is an ideal role for an experienced business banker, relationship manager, or commercial lending professional who enjoys building strong partnerships, developing new business opportunities, and making a visible impact within a collaborative credit union culture.

This role is remote, with a preference for candidates located in the greater Western Washington market and the ability to travel regularly throughout the region for member and prospect meetings.

In this role you will:

  • Develop, manage, and expand a portfolio of business banking relationships through proactive outreach, networking, referrals, and community engagement
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to business members by identifying financial needs and recommending appropriate commercial banking solutions, including loans, lines of credit, deposit products, treasury management services, and business credit cards
  • Structure and present lending opportunities while partnering with internal teams to facilitate the credit approval and loan closing process
  • Maintain strong relationships with existing members through regular account reviews, in-person visits, and ongoing consultation to deepen relationships and increase member satisfaction
  • Identify opportunities to grow deposits, loans, and ancillary business services while balancing member needs with prudent risk management practices
  • Develop and maintain expertise in business lending products, commercial real estate financing, and specialized industries, including cannabis-related businesses
  • Represent Salal Credit Union at networking events, industry associations, and community functions to increase market awareness and generate new business opportunities
  • Collaborate with internal business partners to deliver a seamless member experience and ensure timely follow-up on member requests
  • Monitor portfolio performance, maintain accurate member records, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, policies, and procedures
  • Meet established production, relationship growth, and portfolio management goals while delivering exceptional member service

Our ideal candidate would have:

  • 3+ years of experience in business banking, commercial lending, business development, or relationship management within a financial institution
  • Strong knowledge of business lending and commercial real estate financing
  • Proven ability to develop new business relationships and grow an existing portfolio
  • Ability to balance sales and business development goals with a consultative, member-focused service approach
  • Strong relationship-building, communication, and networking skills
  • Experience analyzing business needs and recommending tailored financial solutions
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple relationships, priorities, and opportunities simultaneously
  • Excellent customer service skills and a commitment to delivering an exceptional member experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience within cannabis banking and compliance procedures.

Compensation and Benefits Offered:

This role has a posted salary range of $95,304.17 - $133,425.83, which reflects the full compensation range for the position over time. Most offers are expected to fall between $95,304.17 - $105,000, depending on qualifications and experience.

  • Potential to earn additional variable compensation bonuses as certain goals are met based on individual and company goal achievement
  • Comprehensive healthcare benefits including health, dental, and vision insurance. Our high deductible plan options include a health savings account (HSA) with annual company-paid contributions
  • Generous time off including 15 days of vacation, 12 days of sick time, 2 floating holidays per year, and paid holidays
  • Tuition reimbursement
  • 401(k) plan with company matching after 6 months of employment
  • Charitable contribution matching
  • Company-paid life, AD&D, and long-term disability insurance, plus additional optional benefits
