What is a Remote Backend .NET Developer?

A Remote Backend .NET Developer is a software engineer who specializes in building and maintaining the server-side components of web applications using the Microsoft .NET framework, such as ASP.NET. They work remotely, meaning they perform their job duties outside of a traditional office, often from home or another location. Their responsibilities typically include designing APIs, managing databases, optimizing application performance, and ensuring secure data handling. These developers collaborate with front-end developers, project managers, and other stakeholders, using tools that support remote communication and code collaboration. The role requires strong programming skills in C# or VB.NET, as well as experience with cloud services, databases, and version control systems.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Backend .NET Developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Backend .NET Developer, you need strong programming skills in C#, .NET frameworks, and a solid understanding of back-end architecture, often backed by a computer science degree or equivalent experience. Familiarity with databases (like SQL Server), cloud platforms (such as Azure), version control systems (like Git), and relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: .NET Developer) are highly beneficial. Excellent problem-solving abilities, self-motivation, and effective remote communication skills distinguish top performers in this role. These competencies enable you to build robust, scalable applications, collaborate effectively with distributed teams, and deliver high-quality solutions remotely.

How does a Remote Backend .NET Developer typically collaborate with team members and manage workflow across different time zones?

As a Remote Backend .NET Developer, collaboration is often facilitated through tools like Slack, Microsoft Teams, and project management platforms such as Jira or Azure DevOps. Regular stand-ups, code reviews, and sprint meetings are scheduled to accommodate various time zones, ensuring clear communication and alignment on project goals. Developers are expected to write thorough documentation and maintain clear, asynchronous communication, which helps teams stay productive and cohesive despite geographical differences. This structure supports effective troubleshooting, knowledge sharing, and continuous integration of code.

Job description

This is a contract position for one of our fintech clients. This person will be working within either the brokerage or crypto teams!

Job Description

Weโ€™re looking for a backend engineer who gets excited about building things that donโ€™t exist yet.
This is not a role for someone who only maintains or โ€œtunesโ€ existing systems โ€” we need someone who can take a blank slate and turn it into a productionโ€‘ready service.

Youโ€™ll be working on greenfield projects with a team that values speed, technical excellence, and ownership. This is a 6โ€‘month contract role with potential for extension and/or conversion, but in those six months, youโ€™ll make a tangible impact.

Important:

You must be based in the United States.

We canโ€™t provide visa sponsorship for this role.

This is a contract position, fully remote within the US.

This contract would be a W-2 position, we cannot do a 1099 or C2C at this time

Qualifications What youโ€™ll do

Build backend services from scratch โ€” from architecture to deployment.

Design RESTful APIs and highly concurrent systems that handle realโ€‘world scale.

Solve complex engineering problems and make sound decisions about priorities.

Collaborate closely with other engineers to deliver fast, maintainable code.

Contribute to a culture of ownership: review code, share knowledge, and mentor where you can.

What makes someone a great fit

3+ years of experience in backend development.

Proven track record of building greenfield systems (not just maintaining legacy code).

Proficiency in Golang or Python (both are great).

Experience with cloudโ€‘native architectures (AWS, Kubernetes, Docker).

Strong grasp of REST API design, distributed systems, and concurrency.

Additional Information

All your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.
