Position: Technical Outside Sales Representative

Location: Austin or San Antonio

Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated and technically proficient Technical Outside Sales Representative to drive sales growth throughout Central and South Texas within the Municipal Water and Wastewater Treatment market. This position is responsible for promoting industry-leading valve and actuation solutions by developing strong relationships with municipalities, consulting engineers, contractors, distributors, and other key stakeholders. The ideal candidate combines technical aptitude with strong sales skills to provide consultative solutions that help customers improve system performance and reliability.


Key Responsibilities

  • Promote and sell industry-leading valve and actuation products to customers throughout the Central and South Texas municipal water and wastewater treatment markets.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with end users, consulting engineers, contractors, distributors, and other key decision makers.
  • Develop and execute strategic territory sales plans to maximize market penetration and revenue growth.
  • Identify, qualify, and manage sales opportunities through all stages of the sales cycle using a CRM system.
  • Provide consultative technical support by assisting customers with product selection, application engineering, and troubleshooting.
  • Conduct technical presentations, product demonstrations, lunch-and-learns, and training sessions for customers and industry partners.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, project specifications, and technical documents to ensure proper product selection and compliance with project requirements.
  • Work closely with inside sales, manufacturers, and engineering teams to develop solutions that meet customer needs.
  • Monitor competitor activities, market trends, pricing changes, and project opportunities, providing regular feedback to management.
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, trade shows, and professional association meetings.
  • Achieve or exceed established sales goals, profitability targets, and key performance indicators.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Business Administration, or a related technical or scientific field is preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience will be considered.

Experience

  • 25 years of successful outside sales experience selling technical, industrial, mechanical, or engineered products.
  • Experience within the municipal water and wastewater industry, valve automation, flow control, pumps, instrumentation, or related industrial markets is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success developing new business while maintaining long-term customer relationships.

  • Ability to interpret engineering specifications, drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Experience providing application support and troubleshooting technical products.
