Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a talented Environmental Project/Program Manager for immediate employment in our Lisle, Illinois office. In this role, you will focus on supporting a program for a major utility client, as well as managing projects within that portfolio.  In this role, you will be making a positive impact in the community through rewarding projects within our Environmental Practices.

This hybrid position (office and remote) requires the ideal candidate to demonstrate experience in regulatory and client engagement on complex sites, as well as investigation and remediation project experience, all while maintaining a strong emphasis on health and safety. The candidate should be detail-oriented, possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, and be capable of working independently while collaborating within a high-performance team.

In this position, you will also be responsible for supporting business development for the Lisle office, technical delivery, stakeholder engagement and communication, and financial management.

Responsibilities for this position may include the following:

Project/Program Management:

  • Oversee the management of projects, assisting in the establishment of project-specific objectives and policies.

  • Oversee the management the program for the portfolio of projects, assisting in the establishment of program specific processes and procedures.

  • Understand site investigation and remediation techniques to drive effective solutions for our utility client.

  • Engage with existing and potential clients to discuss AECOM service capabilities and expand the services provided.

  • Ensure all aspects of the project portfolio align with design, budget, and schedule requirements.

  • Provide technical oversight and quality control throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Define project scope and objectives clearly.

  • Manage all phases of projects from initiation to closeout.

  • Anticipate resource needs and manage resources effectively.

  • Exercise decision-making authority while recognizing risks and uncertainties, implementing plans to mitigate them.

  • Provide consistent project updates to various stakeholders regarding strategy, adjustments, and progress.

  • Identify, mitigate, and manage project risks effectively.

  • Manage complex client relationships and projects.

  • Consistently deliver profit margins as planned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BS in engineering, geology, environmental science, or a related field with 6+ years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

  • US Citizen or US Permanent Resident.

  • This role is subject to a background check and MVR check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10 years of experience in site investigation, remediation, project management, and business development.

  • 2 years of experience managing a portfolio of projects and leading a team for a major client.

  • Licensed in the State of Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Kansas, Missouri, or Ohio (Professional Engineer or Geologist).

  • Experience working with state regulatory agencies in the states referenced for licensure.

  • Proven experience in scheduling resources to ensure timely and budget-compliant project delivery.

  • Background in business development.

  • Current 40-hour HAZWOPER certification, including 8-hour Supervisor training.

  • PMP certification.

  • Experience with regulatory and stakeholder negotiations.

  • Proven track record of successfully managing environmental projects for various types of clients.

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Superior communication, writing, editing, and reporting skills for diverse audiences.

  • Experience preparing proposals, cost estimates, schedules, and change orders.
