Job description

This is a remote position.

Role Overview

We are seeking a high-caliber, pre-sales focused Senior Solutions Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will partner directly with our Sales and Account Executive teams to own the technical lifecycle of the sale. You will serve as the technical subject matter expert, translating complex client business needs into robust, scalable, and cost-effective physical security and network architecture designs.

The ideal candidate brings an extensive background in scoping, designing, and quoting comprehensive CCTV (Live Video/Event-Based Monitoring), Access Control, Wired/Wireless Networks, and low-voltage systems across diverse verticals (e.g., Industrial, Logistics, Multi-Family, Commercial).

Key Responsibilities
Technical Pre-Sales & Client Alignment
  • Sales Partnership: Partner with Account Executives in a pre-sales role to qualify, manage, and successfully close complex technical sales opportunities.

  • Discovery & Consultation: Engage directly with prospective clients and stakeholders to analyze requirements, scope technical projects, and align our capabilities with their business goals.

  • Technical Validation: Act as the technical authority during presentations, directly answering intricate technical questions and confirming that proposed products perfectly meet client needs.

Solution Design & System Architecture
  • System Design: Layout and design comprehensive layouts for CCTV (Video Management Systems), Access Control, and Fire Detection and Alarm Systems (FDAS).

  • Network Infrastructure: Design underlying network infrastructures (Wired & Wireless Broadband/Mesh networks) required to support heavy CCTV traffic or expansive Wi-Fi coverage.

  • Engineering Deliverables: Develop highly accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs), cost-effective technical drawings, hardware specifications, and pricing configurations to deliver tailored customer proposals.

Project Turnover & Leadership
  • Project Handoff: Ensure a seamless transition from "Closed-Won" to execution by creating detailed handoff documentation and leading proper turnover meetings with the Project Management team.

  • Quality Assurance: Review and approve completed technical designs and quotes generated by team members to guarantee technical compliance and hardware efficiency.

  • Mentorship: Take an active role in onboarding and training newer Solutions Engineers on design standards, pricing models, and hardware compliance.

RequirementsQualifications & Skills
Technical Expertise
  • Security Systems: Expert-level knowledge of commercial CCTV, Video Management Software (VMS), Live/Event-based monitoring systems, Access Control, and low-voltage systems (FDAS).

  • Networking Infrastructure: Strong command of Computer Networking, Windows Server environments, Cisco systems, and Ubiquiti Wireless Systems (UBWA certification a major plus).

  • Design Tools: Proficient in creating technical drawings and layouts utilizing System Surveyor, AutoCAD, Google SketchUp, or similar drafting and visualization applications.

Professional Experience & Soft Skills
  • Experience: Proven track record in a Solutions Engineer, Technical Pre-Sales, or Technical Account Management role. Experience moving a project from a pre-sales design phase through to technical implementation or project management is highly valued.

  • Financial & Scoping Acumen: Demonstrated ability to accurately scope project timelines, construct detailed BOMs, and align hardware specifications with aggressive client budgets.

  • Communication: Exceptional presentation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate highly technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and executive buyers.

Benefits

To make this role highly attractive to top-tier talent like the candidate you shared, the benefits section should speak directly to what a seasoned engineering and pre-sales professional values: autonomy, cutting-edge tech, financial reward for sales success, and clear career progression.

Here are some compelling benefits and perks you can list in your job description, broken down by category:

? Financial & Performance Rewards
  • Competitive Base Salary + Uncapped Commission/Bonus Structure: Since this role directly impacts the bottom line by qualifying and closing deals with the sales team, offering a financial upside based on "Closed-Won" projects is a massive draw for top pre-sales talent.

  • Performance-Based Incentives: Rewards for maintaining high accuracy in project scoping, efficient turnarounds on Bills of Materials (BOMs), or high win-rates on pitched designs.

Professional Growth & Technical Mastery
  • Continuous Learning & Certification Support: Offer to fund and sponsor advanced industry certifications that technical engineers highly value (e.g., advanced CCNA/Cisco, Ubiquiti UBWA, specialized VMS/CCTV vendor training, or PMP/Project Management tracks).

  • Clear Leadership Pipeline: Show a distinct path from Senior Solutions Engineer to Solutions Team Lead, Solutions Architect, or Director of Engineering.

  • Hands-on Exposure to Next-Gen Tech: Highlight that they will be working with cutting-edge AI-driven VMS software, advanced analytics, live-video event monitoring, and enterprise-grade wireless mesh networking.

? Work Environment & Culture
  • Hybrid / Flexible Work Schedule: Design and engineering tasks, as well as sales presentations, can often be done remotely, giving them the flexibility they need while keeping them available for client site-visits when necessary.

  • Cross-Functional Collaborative Culture: A work environment where engineering isnโ€™t kept in a silo. They will actively collaborate with Sales Executives, Project Managers, and on-site deployment teams.

  • Diverse Project Portfolio: Freedom from monotony. They will be designing security and network solutions across a massive variety of verticalsโ€”from industrial logistics centers and auto dealerships to multi-family residential complexes and government infrastructure.
