What is a Remote Asset Protection Analyst?

A Remote Asset Protection Analyst is a professional who monitors and analyzes security threats to a company’s physical and digital assets from a remote location. They use various technologies and data analytics to detect potential theft, fraud, or other risks, and collaborate with on-site teams to mitigate these threats. Job description

What we do and why we do it

As the leading end-to-end investment platform for single-family rental homes (SFR), our mission is to make real estate investing radically accessible, cost effective, and simple. We successfully merge our passion for helping investors build wealth through real estate with cutting edge technology that transforms the way they do it.

How it's going (and growing)

With a talented team of 750+ Roofsters, our collaborative, can-do culture is what fuels our growth. In 2022, we closed on our Series E, raising $240 million, and have offices in California, Texas, and New York as well as many remote opportunities. Our growth includes recent acquisitions of Stessa (financial and asset management software), RentPrep (tenant screening and placement service for landlords), and Mynd (property management platform for both Retail and Institutional investors). In 2025, Roofstock took an ownership stake in Casago (short-term rental management services), expanding our platform to support both long-term and short-term rental investment services.

About the Role

Roofstock is looking to hire an analytical, entrepreneurial Asset Management Analyst to join the Investment Management team. This team player will bring strong financial and P&L knowledge, advanced Excel skills, and proficiency in Sigma (or a similar analytics platform), to support the mechanics of optimizing rental portfolios. The Analyst will own budget builds and monthly variance review, and will work alongside the Asset Management team and operational teams to support key decisions across the investment lifecycle. The Analyst will play a critical role in monitoring market and investor performance trends to shape strategic initiatives company wide, maintaining models, building reporting, and putting AI-powered workflows to work to enhance performance - while influencing the product and data enhancements that improve our platform.

Responsibilities

  • Manage budget builds and lead monthly budget-to-actual variance analysis for assigned portfolios, identifying key trends, explaining operational drivers, and partnering with Accounting and Ops teams to validate results and address areas of opportunity
  • Produce weekly, monthly, and quarterly performance reports for institutional investors and company leadership, translating data into clear narratives and recommendations
  • Produce financial reports and maintain models for lender tape deliverables and other investor or lender reporting needs
  • Review portfolio performance to identify trends, diagnose root causes, and recommend strategies that improve NOI, occupancy, revenue, rent growth, renewals, turns, and leasing velocity
  • Conduct financial analysis to support hold/sell decisions and portfolio expansion opportunities
  • Analyze qualitative and quantitative data across multiple systems to identify trends and key findings
  • Leverage Excel, Google Sheets, Sigma, and other reporting tools to analyze large data sets, validate reporting, identify inconsistencies, and turn data into actionable recommendations
  • Monitor actuals vs. budget using advanced Excel financial models, flagging risks and opportunities early
  • Use AI tools and emerging technologies to improve reporting accuracy, reduce manual work, automate repeatable workflows, and streamline daily tasks while maintaining proper review and validation
  • Identify and help implement product and data enhancements that improve the team's analytics and reporting capabilities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Real Estate, Economics, Business, or a related field
  • 4-5+ years of experience in real estate, asset management, financial analysis, FP&A, or a related analytical role
  • Strong understanding of portfolio financials and P&L
  • Advanced Excel skills: pivot tables, financial modeling, variance analysis, and data visualization
  • Proficiency in Sigma or a similar analytics platform, with the ability to build and maintain reporting and dashboards. Experience with SQL is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience operating in an AI-powered workflow, with genuine curiosity for tech-enabled processes
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to synthesize large data sets into clear, actionable insights
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple deliverables under deadlines
  • Collaborative mindset, comfortable working cross-functionally with property management, accounting, data, and investment teams
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, change, and a fast-paced environment
  • High degree of ownership and bias toward action

Compensation
