What are remote architectural jobs?

Remote architectural jobs are positions within the architecture field that allow professionals to work from locations outside a traditional office, often from home or other remote settings. These roles can include tasks such as designing building plans, creating 3D models, drafting construction documents, and consulting with clients or teams, all facilitated by digital tools and communication platforms. Many architectural firms are increasingly offering remote opportunities due to advances in technology and the growing demand for flexible work arrangements. Remote architects must still collaborate closely with team members, clients, and engineers, often using software like AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM platforms. While site visits may occasionally be required, most of the design and planning work can be completed remotely.

How does working as a remote architectural professional impact collaboration with clients and project teams?

As a remote architectural professional, effective communication and collaboration are essential to ensure project success. You'll typically use digital tools like BIM software, video conferencing, and shared online workspaces to coordinate with clients, engineers, and fellow architects. While you may miss some face-to-face interactions, regular virtual meetings and clear documentation help bridge the gap and maintain strong teamwork. Being proactive in providing updates and seeking feedback is key to overcoming time zone differences and ensuring everyone remains aligned on project goals.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Architect, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Architect, you need a solid background in architectural design, building codes, and project management, usually supported by a professional degree and licensure. Proficiency with design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, BIM platforms, and collaboration tools like Slack or Zoom is essential. Exceptional communication, self-motivation, and time management skills help you collaborate effectively with distributed teams and clients. These abilities are crucial for delivering high-quality designs efficiently while navigating the challenges of remote work.

Job description

AWS Global Sales drives adoption of the AWS cloud worldwide, enabling customers of all sizes to innovate and expand in the cloud. Our team empowers every customer to grow by providing tailored service, unmatched technology, and committed support. We dive deep to understand each customer's unique challenges, then craft innovative solutions that accelerate their success.

This customer-first approach is how we built the world's most adopted cloud. Join us and help us grow.
As a Sr. Manager, Solutions Architect you will partner with customers, AWS Sales, and several other AWS teams to craft highly scalable, flexible, and resilient cloud architectures that address customer business problems and accelerate the adoption of AWS services

In collaboration with sales, you should help drive revenue growth across a broad set of customers within the Games vertical. As a trusted customer advocate, you should help organizations understand best practices around advanced cloud-based solutions, including real-time multiplayer infrastructure, live services platforms, game analytics pipelines, and generative AI applied to game development and player experiences. You should seek out opportunity to help shape and execute a strategy to build mindshare and broaden the use of the AWS platform across the customer's organization.

You should also have a demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, products, and technical challenges.
As an Amazon Web Services (AWS) Sr. Manager, Solutions Architect you are joining a team that invests in your success by providing a comprehensive learning program. The AWS Solutions Architecture team provides an opportunity to work in an open environment that includes self-paced learning, instructor-led training, hands-on projects, and job shadowing opportunities to develop your knowledge of the AWS ecosystem of services and solutions

The ideal candidate has a curious mind, a thirst for knowledge, and a desire to understand how technology works. They bring familiarity with the unique demands of the games industry, where always-on global services, unpredictable player-driven scale, and rapid content iteration define the technical landscape. By working backwards from defined customer outcomes, you achieve results that delight AWS customers.

You enjoy keeping your existing technical skills honed and develop new ones so you can make meaningful contributions to long-term customer success.
Key job responsibilities
Serve as a leader for the SA team, and a key member of the business development team.
Hire, enable, and develop an industry-leading team of solutions architects
Build deep relationships with customers to become a trusted advisor for their most critical workloads that support their digital transformation and journey to the cloud.

Support achievement of revenue objectives through the adoption and migration of applications, software, and services onto the AWS platform, in partnership with the sales team.
Educate customers on the value proposition of AWS, and participate in deep architectural discussions to ensure solutions are designed for successful deployment in the cloud.
Contribute to AWS internal and customer-facing publications such as white-papers and blogs as a means of scaling your knowledge.

Act as a liaison between customers, service engineering teams, and support to address customer needs.
