Job description

The Role

We are seeking talented, energetic, and customer focused application engineers to join a rapidly growing field where you will help deliver state of the art Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS) to leading electric utilities worldwide. In this role, you will design, build, configure, test, and deliver systems while collaborating closely with fellow engineers and customers. Your primary focus will be on the Outage Management System (OMS), which spans both operational and information technology domains within electric utilities. You will help build systems that enhance grid operations, improve efficiency, and support key business functions. These systems expand Smart Grid capabilities by providing deeper insight into grid performance and enabling more sustainable operations. This role reports to the Manager, Power Systems Engineering.

Your Impact

  • Develop and execute system build plans that account for software architecture, information security, and hardware deployment.
  • Work closely with customers to understand operational needs and provide training and configuration support.
  • Perform system and acceptance testing with customers.
  • Develop scripts and middleware solutions for third-party integrations.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues and collaborate with technical experts across domains.
  • Lead customer workshops.
  • Travel to customer sites to deliver, test, and integrate systems.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in applications engineering, software engineering, computer engineering, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of application engineering experience.
  • Ability to travel up to 20%.
  • Strong understanding of general computer operations, including file systems, navigation, and system settings.
  • Familiarity with multiple operating systems (Windows, Linux, etc.).
  • Basic understanding of remote system access.
  • Comfort working with configuration files and navigating servers.
  • Ability to collect and analyze data to identify software defects.
  • Ability to distinguish between configuration issues and development bugs and submit detailed defect reports.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain consistent configuration across multiple servers.
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
  • Ability to translate complex technical problems into clear, customer-friendly explanations.
  • Ability to identify root causes and communicate solutions without unnecessary technical detail.
  • Ability to translate customer requirements into system configuration.
  • Knowledge of SQL Server and MongoDB preferred.
  • Understanding of, or experience with, OMS or ADMS preferred.

The salary range for this role is $77,900.00 - $97,400.00. This range represents what we in good faith believe is the range possible for base compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range based on several factors. This range may be modified in the future. This role is also eligible for bonus or variable incentive pay. Additionally, we offer a comprehensive benefits package including paid time off, charitable giveback day, medical/dental/vision insurance, and retirement benefits to eligible employees.
