Application Architect

Apex is actively searching for experienced expert-level Application Architects who will leverage their technology skills to develop business solutions within the healthcare industry. The Application Architect role will be part of a newly formed development team within The Client and contribute to creating and implementing enterprise standards for our API Management platform (IBM API Connect). In addition, the Application Architect will document and support various API design patterns leveraging both on-premise and Cloud-based API providers/consumers. The applicant will be challenged with cutting-edge technologies to provide a modern framework for Java-based services. As part of a transformational team the applicant will enable new user experiences and help to build out a new IT infrastructure for the future. The prospective candidate will be engaged in a wide variety of work, including but not limited to web applications and web service development, platform development, automation, and coaching/mentoring of teams adopting the platforms. The Application Architect will provide technical leadership in our agile development teams. The role will include dealing with complex business integrations, eliciting requirements, and implementing secure and high-performance services consumed by various devices and applications across the organization. The applicant will drive the evolution of our solutions and ensure that we meet our internal and external clients' software requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Solution and Architecture design of enterprise-wide software applications
  • Enforce API standards and API governance across the organization
  • Designs complex RESTful web services, IBM API Connect (APIC) and AWS API Gateway configurations, while being part of cross functional and agile development teams
  • Conducts complex impact analysis
  • Contributes complex technical alternatives
  • Work with minimal supervision enabling technical team
  • Pushes the envelope with creative and innovative thinking

Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree or higher in computer science or equivalent technical experience.
  • 3+ years of solution and architecture design
  • 5+ year experience and expert knowledge of Java enterprise development.
  • 5+ year experience with mobile technology development (native, responsive, hybrid)
  • 3+ year experience with application architecture for large enterprise solutions.
  • 3+ year experience with APIC and cloud solutions.
  • Work as a multi-skilled professional practicing Agile/SCRUM methodologies.
  • Programming languages: Java and/or C# experience is required.
  • Ability to coach and mentor junior developers as well as teams adopting the platforms.
  • Passion for collaboration and working on agile teams
