What is a remote APCC?

A Remote APCC refers to an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor who works remotely, providing mental health counseling and support services through telehealth platforms. APCCs are pre-licensed mental health professionals in California working under supervision as they gain experience required for full licensure. Remote APCCs typically conduct therapy sessions, assessments, and client support via video or phone calls, making mental health care more accessible for clients who cannot attend in-person sessions. This role requires adherence to state regulations and ethical guidelines, even when services are provided online.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a remote APCC?

To thrive as a Remote APCC, you need a master's degree in counseling or a related field, APCC registration with the relevant state board, and foundational knowledge of clinical assessment and therapeutic techniques. Familiarity with telehealth platforms, electronic health records (EHR), and compliance with HIPAA regulations is essential. Strong communication, empathy, self-motivation, and the ability to establish rapport virtually are crucial soft skills for this role. These competencies ensure effective remote client care, ethical practice, and successful therapeutic outcomes in a virtual environment.

How does a remote APCC collaborate with supervisors and peers while working remotely?

As a Remote APCC, you will regularly engage in virtual supervision sessions with a licensed clinical supervisor to fulfill your required hours and receive feedback on your clinical work. Collaboration with peers often happens through secure video meetings, digital case consultations, and online team discussions. Maintaining clear, timely communication is essential to ensure client care is coordinated and to foster professional growth, despite not sharing a physical office space. You may also participate in virtual trainings, team meetings, and group supervision to stay connected and informed.

Job description

Location: Remote, California Only
Status: W-2 Employee | Part-Time

BayRidge Effective Therapy is a growing, trauma-informed virtual therapy practice looking for an exceptional bilingual Spanish-speaking AMFT and/or APCC to join our team.

We’re looking for someone who wants more than a place to collect hours. We want someone who is proactive, resourceful, adaptable, positive, and genuinely excited to keep learning. You should be comfortable working independently while also wanting a team that knows you, supports you, and invests in your growth.

This position is especially exciting for someone interested in trauma work. EMDR training or experience is strongly preferred, and the right associate will also have the opportunity to learn psychological evaluations for immigration cases and develop an additional area of professional expertise.

What Makes This Role Unique

Clinical Supervision & Support
Weekly clinical supervision is provided at no cost. Supervision includes case consultation, clinical development, problem solving, and support as you develop your own voice and confidence as a therapist.

Professional Development
We regularly gather and share free clinical training opportunities, typically at least four per month, that clinicians can complete on their own time. Training and new clinical skills may also be incorporated into supervision and case consultation.

Immigration Psychological Evaluation Training
Interested in expanding beyond traditional therapy? Associates may have the opportunity to learn our psychological immigration evaluation process, including specialized interviewing, assessment, documentation, and report development. Prior immigration evaluation experience is not required. Approved immigration evaluation work is compensated at $50/hour.

Spanish Translation Opportunities
Bilingual associates may also have opportunities to provide Spanish translation support for BayRidge services and evaluation work. Approved translation work is compensated at $40/hour.

Referral & Marketing Support
We are actively working to grow referrals through online marketing, social media, blogs, SEO, networking calls, in-person outreach, professional relationships, mailing campaigns, community involvement, and continued expansion onto insurance panels. You will also be featured on our website and through practice marketing.

Psychology Today Support
BayRidge will cover the cost of your Psychology Today profile for any month in which your profile generates at least two referrals.

Flexible Scheduling
Create a schedule that works with your life while maintaining consistency and accountability to your clients.

Community Opportunities
Interested in getting involved outside of sessions? Clinicians may have opportunities for paid participation at local career fairs, mental health booths, networking events, and other community outreach activities.

Foster Care & Trauma Program
After three months, associates may opt into our foster care partnership and provide one trauma-focused pro bono session per week. The client receives the session at no cost, while the associate is still compensated by BayRidge for the clinical time.

Compensation & Benefits

• $35/hour for clinical therapy sessions
• $50/hour for approved immigration psychological evaluation work
• $40/hour for immigration translation work in Spanish
• $18.50/hour for approved administrative time
• W-2 employee status with biweekly direct deposit
• Free weekly clinical supervision
• 401(k) available immediately
• Healthcare benefits available after three months for employees meeting eligibility requirements
• HIPAA-compliant practice technology provided
• Practice marketing and clinician profile support

Clinical documentation is included within session expectations and must be completed timely.

Who We’re Looking For

• Active California registration as an AMFT and/or APCC in good standing
• Bilingual Spanish and English, with professional proficiency sufficient to provide psychotherapy in Spanish
• Approximately one year or more remaining before anticipated independent licensure
• Direct experience providing individual psychotherapy, rather than experience limited primarily to case management or check-ins
• EMDR trained or experienced strongly preferred
• Interest in trauma-informed treatment and developing strong trauma therapy skills
• Interest in learning psychological evaluations for immigration cases
• Passion for working with adults and/or teens experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, relationship concerns, self-esteem challenges, and life transitions
• Proactive, resourceful, and comfortable taking initiative
• Tech savvy and willing to learn new systems
• Adaptable and able to roll with the changes that naturally come with a growing practice
• Positive, solutions-focused attitude
• Strong communication, organization, follow-through, and timely documentation
• Comfortable asking questions, seeking resources, and bringing ideas to the team
• Private and confidential workspace with reliable high-speed internet
• Current CAMFT or other relevant professional membership and professional liability insurance

A Little About BayRidge

BayRidge is growing, and we want our clinicians to grow with us.

We believe associates deserve more than supervision hours and a list of clients. We want to know where you want to go professionally and help you develop the experience, confidence, and skills to get there.

You’ll have independence here, but you won’t be left on an island. We believe in consultation, continued learning, creativity, transparency, kindness, and a good dose of humor.

We don’t expect you to know everything. We do want you to be someone who gets curious, looks for solutions, asks questions, takes initiative, and gets excited about new opportunities.

If you’re bilingual in Spanish and English, have at least a year remaining in your associate journey, and want to grow your experience in trauma therapy, EMDR, and potentially immigration psychological evaluations, we would love to hear from you.
