Job description

Team Name:
Battle.net & Online Products
Job Title:
Lead Technical Program Manager, Platform Security | Irvine, CA or remote
Requisition ID:
R026763
Job Description:
The Platform Security team at Blizzard is seeking a seasoned Lead Technical Program Manager to drive the execution, delivery, and operational excellence of security initiatives across the Blizzard gaming ecosystem. You will lead product managers and project managers, orchestrate cross-team delivery, and partner with engineering, data science, operations, and game teams to translate Platform Security strategy into shipped outcomes.
The team you'll lead safeguards our players, creators, and partners by building secure, reliable, and player-trust-focused platform services, including anti-fraud, anti-cheat, account security, application security, and player-interaction systems.
This role requires a rare blend of program leadership, hands-on execution discipline, and production sensibility. You bring strong judgment and adaptability to a fast-moving domain, drive accountability across teams, and balance forward-looking planning with the rapid response demands of live services. Decisive ownership and a bias toward action are essential.
This role is anticipated to be a hybrid work position, with some on-site and some remote work. The home studio for this role is in Irvine, CA. However, we understand each person's circumstances may be unique and will work with you to explore other possible options, including remote work arrangements.
Responsibilities:
Leadership & People
  • Lead and develop product managers and project managers, providing structured coaching, clear expectations, and proactive guidance rather than a hands-off approach.
  • Set and enforce delivery standards across the team; hold yourself and others accountable to outcomes, not just activity.
  • Build trusted relationships with engineering leaders, game team partners, and senior stakeholders.
  • Communicate concisely and effectively across all levels, from executives to engineers, adapting tone and detail to the audience.
  • Make decisive calls in ambiguous situations; say "no" when needed, and bring forward a clear rationale.

Program Execution
  • Own end-to-end execution of Platform Security programs, from intake and planning through delivery, launch, and iteration.
  • Drive milestone planning, dependency tracking, risk management, and status reporting with rigor and consistency.
  • Establish and maintain operational rhythms across multiple workstreams, including roadmap reviews, delivery frameworks, and communication standards.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for cross-team blockers; resolve issues quickly and surface decisions clearly.
  • Balance proactive, long-term program planning with the reactive demands of live-service operations.

Strategy & Portfolio
  • Translate Platform Security strategy into actionable roadmaps, resource plans, and prioritization decisions.
  • Partner with product, engineering, and data science leaders to align programs to business goals and player-trust outcomes.
  • Define and track program-level KPIs; use data to drive decisions, not just to report progress.
  • Anticipate threats and opportunities, bringing forward-looking thinking into program planning rather than just responding to events.
  • Communicate program strategy, risks, and recommendations clearly to senior leadership.

Minimum Requirements:
  • 10+ years in technical program management, program management, or production within games, security, or platform services.
  • Proven leadership of product managers and project managers, with concrete examples of hands-on coaching, performance management, and team development.
  • Strong execution track record, with examples of programs you personally drove end-to-end including the operational details, not just the strategic framing.
  • Adaptability in fast-moving environments where the threat landscape evolves and priorities can shift.
  • Decisive ownership and the ability to make calls, enforce decisions, and follow through even when consensus isn't possible.
  • Strong understanding of SDLC, product development, and program management methodologies at scale.
  • Track record delivering security, trust & safety, or platform programs in complex technical ecosystems.
  • Exceptional communication skills that are concise, structured, and adaptive to executive, peer, and team audiences.
  • Experience influencing senior leadership and orchestrating multi-team delivery across organizational boundaries.
  • Gaming or entertainment industry experience strongly preferred.

Bonus Points:
  • Proficiency with Smartsheet for program planning, tracking, and cross-team coordination.
  • Hands-on experience working directly with game teams or integrating services into live-service/multiplayer titles.
  • Track record of launching technical programs end-to-end (discovery to launch to iteration).
  • Current knowledge of anti-cheat, anti-fraud, threat intelligence, abuse prevention, or trust & safety systems, including familiarity with adversarial thinking and the evolving threat landscape.
  • Knowledge of secure development practices, threat modeling, anti-tamper, or obfuscation techniques.
  • Technical proficiency (C++, Python, Go, etc.) for effective partnership with engineering.
