Job description

ACU is affiliated with the fellowship of the Church of Christ. This position requires the employee to be a professing Christian and to be willing to support the Christian mission of ACU.
The Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Department seeks qualified adjunct instructors to support instructional needs across a range of agriculture-related disciplines. This position involves teaching undergraduate courses in either an online or in-person format, depending on departmental needs.
Responsibilities
  • Teach assigned course or courses in agriculture and related subject areas
  • Develop a comprehensive course syllabus for each section that aligns with departmental standards and institutional policies. Often prior teaching materials for courses are available.
  • Provide academic guidance through scheduled office hours or other contact methods and respond to student inquiries via email in a timely manner.
  • Design and administer exams, quizzes, and other assessments in coordination with department faculty.
  • Maintain accurate records and submit final grades by established deadlines.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to support student success.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree or higher in Agriculture or a closely related field
  • Demonstrated expertise in an area of study (e.g., wildlife, range management, agronomy, animal science, agricultural business, environmental science, etc.)
  • Ability to teach effectively in either or both online and in-person learning environments.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior teaching experience at the college or university level
  • Familiarity with learning management systems and online teaching tools
  • Strong communication and organizational skills

Work Schedule
  • Adjunct appointments are part-time and course-based. Teaching assignments may vary by semester and modality (online or in-person).This position is paid by credit hour.
