Tax Analyst |100% Remote (WFH) Opportunity

General Summary

The successful candidate will become a key member of a small, highly-functioning, public insurance company tax department. The position is involved in many aspects of compliance and accounting for assessments, premium tax, and income tax in a deadline-sensitive environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Prepare periodic premium tax and assessment filings, often supported by complex calculations and formulas in Excel. Gather, analyze, and synthesize data from diverse systems. Organize and reference schedules and workpapers underlying filings and payments. For assigned areas, maintain an individual calendar and organize assignments to meet frequent deadlines.

Perform complex general ledger entries and reconciliations for premium tax and assessments. Assist in the preparation of federal, state, and local income tax compliance. Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual income tax provisions (GAAP and STAT), account reconciliations, deferred tax analyses, annual return-to-provision adjustments, and intercompany settlements.

At times working independently, locate, interpret, and apply state regulations and instructions. Learn, apply, and continuously improve Tax Department methods and procedures.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of experience in public accounting, corporate tax, or a combination.
  • Experience in public company ASC 740 income tax provisions.
  • Experience working for a publicly traded company (NYSE and/or NASDAQ)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel.
  • Experience with general ledger software.
  • Learns quickly when facing new situations.
  • Embraces new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm.
  • Makes sense of complex and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems.
  • Consistently achieves results, even under tough circumstances and tight deadlines.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • Master's degree in Tax highly desirable.

  • Remote: This role is a remote (work from home (WFH) opportunity) and only open to candidates currently located in the United States and able to work without sponsorship.
  • It requires a suitable space that provides a private and quiet workplace.
  • Expected Work Hours: Schedules are set to accommodate the requirements of the position and the needs of the organization and may be adjusted as needed.
