Position Summary:
The Manager / Senior Manager of Building Products Research is a leader within JBREC’s Building Products Research, Data, and Insights team. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the research agenda for the $800 billion building products industry. You will oversee the development of innovative data-driven products, deliver rigorous economic and market analysis, guide other researchers and collaborate with other teams within JBREC. This position is ideal for a highly analytical, detail-oriented leader with exceptional communication, project management, and interpersonal skills. You should excel at analyzing and synthesizing complex data, leading others, presenting confidently, and influencing stakeholders at all levels.
Reporting Structure:
This pivotal role reports directly to the Vice President of Building Products Research. You will work with and develop a team of research analysts while collaborating closely with forecasting, data science, consulting and product teams to deliver world-class research products and client insights.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct and perform sophisticated economic, statistical, and market analyses, including forecasting, industry modeling, and segmentation analysis.
  • Use programming languages (e.g., R, Python, SQL) to lead analysis of large datasets and deliver clear, actionable insights.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop other research team members, providing guidance on analytical methods, project execution, and professional growth.
  • Serve as a key liaison between the Building Products team and other JBREC departments, ensuring seamless integration of research, forecasting, and consulting outputs.
  • Foster a collaborative, supportive team culture centered on analytical rigor, curiosity, and excellence.
  • Ensure methodological accuracy and quality control across our data architecture, including surveys and proprietary data sources.
  • Respond to ad hoc requests with high-quality, well-documented analysis, visualizations, and strategic recommendations.
  • Present research findings to clients, executive audiences, industry associations, and conference groups.
  • Support business development through expert insights, relationship building, and participation in industry events.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Business, or a related field required; advanced degree strongly preferred.
  • 5–7+ years of professional experience in building products, housing/real estate, economic research, survey research, or related analytical fields.
  • Demonstrated experience managing analytical teams and leading complex research initiatives.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical background, including knowledge of statistical concepts such as sampling, regression diagnostics, distributions, and significance testing.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as R and/or Python, SQL, or SAS, along with advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience analyzing large-scale datasets and translating findings into actionable business insights.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and effectively.
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams and build alignment among diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, accountability, and follow-through.
  • Collaborative leadership style with strong decision-making, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Forward-thinking and adaptable mindset, including openness to AI-driven and automated solutions that improve efficiency and analytical capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced expertise in technical programming and analytics tools, including R (preferred), Python, SQL, SAS, and advanced modeling or automation techniques.
  • Experience developing advanced statistical models, forecasting methodologies, or automated analytical workflows.
  • Experience working with complex survey data, large relational databases, or enterprise-scale data environments.
  • Advanced degree in Economics, Statistics, Data Science, Business Analytics, or a related quantitative discipline.
Each full-time employee receives:
$12,500 towards our comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, prescription drug coverage, and flexible spending accounts including gym memberships and vacation assistance.
Company contributes 5% of their salary and profit sharing to their 401(k), even if they do not contribute.
30 days of Paid Time Off including 3 weeks of personal time off (PTO), 10 paid holidays, and 5 paid days for our Winter Break when the company shuts down to rejuvenate.
Compensation and title will be based on skills, experience, and abilities, which can vary by person.
