Wise Recovery Counseling Center is actively seeking a dedicated and skilled Mental Health Counselor to join our team in a full-time remote capacity. Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive initial assessments by performing preliminary interviews, and documenting client cases meticulously from their first consultation through to the completion of their treatment.
  • Evaluate the mental, behavioral, and emotional health of clients using established diagnostic frameworks and tools.
  • Devise tailored treatment and recovery plans that address the unique challenges faced by individuals, couples, families, and group settings.
  • Facilitate both individual and group therapy sessions, using evidence-based therapeutic techniques to promote healing and growth.
  • Monitor client progress throughout treatment, adjusting intervention strategies as necessary to ensure optimal results.
  • Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team, including other mental health specialists, physicians, nurses, and social workers, to develop cohesive intervention plans.
  • Follow up with psychiatrists and attending physicians regarding clients who may require hospital admission.
  • Identify and address potential behaviors that may hinder recovery, providing targeted strategies to help clients stay on track with their treatment goals.
  • Support family members and primary caregivers by providing guidance and management strategies for those dealing with mental health challenges.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution is required.
  • Active licensure as either an LCMFT, LMFT, LCPC, or LCSW-C in the state of Maryland.
  • A passing score in the NCE and/or the NCMHCE is mandatory.
Preferred Experience
  • Previous experience as a mental health counselor is strongly preferred, with substantial experience in direct clinical practice.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record systems, particularly AVATAR, is beneficial for managing client details efficiently.
  • A background in handling complex physical and emotional health conditions, and experience with addiction, will be highly advantageous.
