POSITION SUMMARY:
Holt International finds and supports permanent, loving families for children who are orphaned, abandoned or at serious risk of separation from their family. Holt's child centered model of care provides services for vulnerable children to ensure they will grow and develop to their fullest potential.
The Manager, Nutrition and Health Services manages high quality, multi-faceted nutrition and health programs that address the unique needs of the children and families Holt serves. The Manager, Nutrition and Health Services provides management and administration to Nutrition and Health Services by overseeing and coordinating country programs, coordinating inter and intra-department communication, managing databases and monitoring and evaluation systems, overseeing department interns and volunteers, and assisting with assigned projects as needed. The Manager, Nutrition and Health Services develops statistical reports, supports database development, and technical resource development. The Manager, Nutrition and Health Services creates and updates frameworks for nutrition programs to ensure effective field activities and involvement by all stakeholders.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  1. Provides assistance to the Vice President, Nutrition and Health Services by providing management and administration of objectives for nutrition and health services.
  2. Contributes to organizational and program capacity building efforts utilizing the tools, programs, curriculum and training models, methods and techniques developed for Holt use to fully implement and support Holt programs and partners care of orphans and vulnerable children.
  3. Maximizes program opportunities by developing custom reports and providing information to assist with securing and managing grants from international donor organizations that expand impact beyond Holt's internal resources.
  4. Oversees management of database and statistical reports by providing appropriate training to Holt program teams and participating partner organizations on the database and data collection expectations, either in person or remotely, to ensure accurate and adequate data flow on children's health and growth to Holt. Develops statistical reports to summarize program impact and provide continuous quality improvement in nutrition and health programming.
  5. Manages preparation, calendaring, coordination and monitoring of key project deliverables and department goals. Provides field implementation expectations to program leaders. Requests timely receipt of program field updates and expense receipts from Holt programs/partners/ volunteers and contractors.
  6. Arranges travel for Holt staff, participating program staffs and technical expert staff for overseas travel needs. Collaborates with Holt program leads to finalize all in-country arrangements to conduct assessments, trainings, monitoring and evaluation and/or contractor(s).
  7. Ensures high quality services for children and families and other Holt constituents by overseeing the coordination of logistics, travel, supplies, training and technical needs to the field. Ensures all programs are modified to be culturally relevant and country-specific.
  8. Conserves and maximizes the Vice President's time by acting as primary liaison for administration and communication within and outside of Holt as required; assisting in the creation and editing of documents and communications; developing and maintaining digital materials and presentations; and collaborating with Holt program teams to maximize interdepartmental communications and minimize cross cultural communication issues.
  9. Supports Holt's fundraising efforts by producing country overviews, project summaries and program reports for foundations and donor relations representatives.
  10. Contributes to team effort and continuity by collaborating and communicating with the team on program needs and priorities. Contributing ideas for improving the efficient work flow of the team. Exhibiting cooperative and effective work relationships, such as, responding positively to challenges, assignments, inter and intra departmental requests; Seeing beyond own tasks to help fulfill the organizational goals.
  11. Contributes to a positive, productive work environment by meeting attendance and punctuality guidelines and pre-arranging time off with appropriate notice. Treats all people with dignity and respect. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements
SUCCESS FACTORS:
The successful Manager, Nutrition and Health Services has strong capacity in nutrition, program development and data management. The ability to pay attention to details, follow through with projects and objectives, multi-tasking with competing priorities and problem solving will be needed to be successful. The Manager, Nutrition and Health Services must have technical knowledge to be able to support field staff and partners, as well as to interpret program information effectively and form action plans that contribute to program goals achievement. He/she demonstrates high ethical standards in programs and services to the children we serve.
KNOWLEDGE:
Registered and Licensed Dietitian/ Nutritionist preferred. Master's degree preferred; preferably in nutrition, public health, epidemiology or related field; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job as those listed above. Demonstrable cross-cultural communication skills required. Must have strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and database experience). Demonstrated ability to work effectively with multiple forms of technology; basic data analysis and data input experience required. Analyze information for reports, training programs, and curriculum development. Must have strong organizational skills and be detail oriented. Excellent written and oral communication skills required. Experience coordinating or conducting training programs is desired.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Works independently and takes initiative in assigned duties to select from among variety of existing options and/or to recommend new ways to complete Nutrition and Health Services tasks. High interdepartmental collaboration required within Holt, with overseas partners and with contractors to facilitate nutrition and health services. Manager ensures program continuity during any absence of Vice President.
LOCATION & TRAVEL:
This position is remote or hybrid at headquarters in Eugene, Oregon. This role may require up to 20% travel domestically and internationally as assigned. Preference for those within a drivable distance to Eugene, Oregon for occasional in-office activities.
IMPACT OF RESULTS: Supports CEO's vision and Vice President's goals and objectives to successfully implement a multi-year, multi-country initiatives.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Manages department interns and volunteers.
