The conducive virtual environment supports a regular work schedule from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. • Conduct thorough mental health assessments for elderly clients, accurately identifying their specific needs to inform treatment plans.
• Provide individualized and group counseling sessions that address emotional issues related to aging, including anxiety, depression, and adjustment challenges.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to formulate comprehensive care plans, ensuring alignment with both mental and physical health goals.
• Educate families and staff on effective strategies to enhance the emotional well-being and quality of life for elderly residents.
• Facilitate grief and loss counseling for clients and their families, assisting them through complex end-of-life issues and promoting healthy coping mechanisms.
• Implement evidence-based cognitive stimulation programs designed to improve mental acuity and overall cognitive functioning for elderly individuals.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation in accordance with ethical and legal standards, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with regulatory requirements.

This role primarily focuses on seniors grappling with various mental health challenges related to aging, including those dealing with loss, transitions, chronic illness, and addiction. The counselor will engage with clients who require nuanced approaches tailored to their individual experiences and cultural backgrounds, helping them navigate the complexities of late life.

• A Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling or related field from an accredited institution.
• Possession of a valid and active Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) credential.
• Minimum of 4 years of recent experience in providing geriatric counseling and mental health support to elderly clientele.
• Additional specialized training in geriatric mental health and issues pertaining to aging is highly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to implement evidence-based strategies for mental well-being in older adults.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively connect with elderly individuals and their families.
• Cultural competence and empathy to address the diverse needs of older adult populations.
